My 2007 "Stormy Blue" Mazda RX8 GT was my absolute favorite car. It was low to the ground with tight steering and suspension, so you could really feel the road. It is loaded with all the bells and whistles, extra torque from the rotary engine, comfortable and spacious. The suicide doors made it easy to get in and out of the back seat: a feature I surely miss. The back seats folded down to hold surfboards, lumber, or anything else you needed to transport. I had a trailer hitch and roof racks added for transporting kayaks. 260,000 miles later, I finally sold it - the biggest mistake I've ever made.

Looks Great, But Not Reliable
I love the look of the Mazda RX8. I fell in love with the look of the car the first time I saw it. This is actually my second RX8. When the engine is functioning correctly, it's a great and fun (and fast) car to drive. It turns heads, too. But unfortunately, the rotary engine is prone to dying (the seals blow). I had to have the engine replaced on my first RX8 because it died (thankfully within the warranty for the engine). I bought another after Hurricane Sandy smashed mine with a tree. The second RX8 I chose a 2007, as it was said they had changed things so the engine was much less likely to die due to broken seals. Unfortunately, I found that not to be the case, and had to have the engine replaced at just under the warranty (thank goodness). This car also needs 4 ignition coil packs replaced every 20-30000 miles, a bit of a cost and a hassle. Finally, it is not good on gas, and must take premium gas, so it costs more than other cars overall to run.
