We bought our Jeep Cherokee Sport new in 2016 and have put about 10,000 miles on it since then. This was our first ever new car purchase, and we have been mostly happy about it. There are a few things that we absolutely love and a few things we would change. The interior of the car is very easy to clean and stays looking nice even with two kids in and out of the car constantly. The touchscreen for the stereo has always been very responsive and works well, and the rear view camera is always crystal clear and works very well in night time settings, as well. There is enough foot room in the back for our daughter, who is in a booster seat, to still be comfortable and for us to have our seats where we need them, and our son's infant car seat also fits well. The air conditioner is ice cold, ... (more)

I think the funniest memory is when we traveled to California from our home in Oregon and got pulled over for our tint being too dark because in California they have tint laws and in Oregon we do not. We ended up getting sent on our way because the officer didn't realize we were from Oregon.
A Favor
The touchscreen radio and Sirius XM are great features, along with the rear view camera and comfortable seating.
En Contra
The top negative things are definitely the high idle, the cruise control acceleration issue and the lack of adequate cargo room.

I brought my first Jeep Cherokee Sport in 2007, it was my first SUV and I loved it so much I brought a second five years later. The SUV can seat up to five people, has a fold down back seat that increases its storage capacity, can go off-roading and has 4-wheel drive that can handle almost any snow storm. Its cabin holds heat well during the winter and it soft cloth and leather seats are very comfortable. It is exceedingly fun to drive and can accelerate very quickly and can turn on a dime. The Sport edition of the Jeep Cherokee was discontinued after 2001, but I have not found another model as durable, I went almost three years without a repair bill when I first bought the car. When I did have to take the car to the shop parts, with the exception of the tires, were inexpensive. The on... (more)

For Thanksgiving one year we decided to visit family in Virginia, which is over 600 miles away. Although I had driven long distances before, this was the furthest I’d driven with the SUV. In an effort to beat traffic we started out at four in the morning the day before Thanksgiving, unfortunately other people had the same idea and we ran into heavy traffic in New Jersey. After about an hou... (more)
A Favor
The positive aspect of this Jeep is that the engine is very powerful and it accelerates very quickly thanks to all that horsepower. It can also stop and turn on a dime, which is very helpful for city driving. For country and suburban areas the Jeep has powerful headlights, which is appreciated since the lights are so-so in some place and deer can be dangerous. One of the best traits the Jeep has is that it is durable my first one had 175,000 miles on it when I bought it and lasted until I had over 300,000 miles on it. The storage capacity was one of the main reasons I bought the Jeep and i... (more)
En Contra
Some of the drawbacks of the Jeep Cherokee Sport are that it is prone to overheating when standing in traffic for extended periods of time or climbing steep ( very steep) hills. The overheating can be minor, where you just have to pull over and let the car rest for a period of time, or it can be severe and cause coolant to spew out of the car. Also the tires are expensive and hard to find. On my original Jeep I had to replace the radiator after 100,000 miles as well as the transmission (though both were original to the car which had 175,000 miles on it when I purchased it used). Because th... (more)
