Sturdy to the Max!
59,000 Miles and counting! I do not know if it is the quality of the parts or Kia's dedication to customer satisfaction, but this Sportage is determined to live a good long life. I purchased this car 8 years ago when my daughter was born to replace a cumbersome and unreliable van. Not once has it broken down, or even began to show symptoms of aging. This car was well put together. Although designed as more of a mini SUV, it is very spacious ad seats 5 comfortably, or 4 with one car seat. She performs well with the 4 liter engine, and can get up and go when I need her to. I feel safe with this vehicle, unlike many competitors vehicles. By no means is this a racing vehicle for the speed demon teen or a drifter, but she can certainly turn on a dime, and handle even the most arduous road conditions. When you have a baby on board, that sense of safety is paramount. The easy to clean surfaces and Scotch guard, also assure your painted rainbows and spilled milk do not become a permanent fixture in the car.

A great vehicle for the price.
The first thing I liked was the price. I bought it used in 2013, for around $8,000. It only had around 75,000 miles on it, which in comparison to other vehicles I was looking at around the same price, was low. Many other cars had well over 100,000 miles for that price. I also liked the way it looked. I like the look of a SUV, but I didn't want some huge vehicle that is hard to park and takes up too much space. This was perfect. It's a smaller SUV, but still has nice features that you would expect from this type of vehicle. The back door has the option of just opening the window instead of the whole door. This works great if you're transporting something that is long, because you can simply open the window to allow it to fit, and don't have to leave to whole door open while you're driving. Also, the back seats fold down flat so you have a flat area going all the way from the front seats to the back of the vehicle. I don't move around a lot of stuff, but I've still found these options to be very helpful. It is fun to drive. I like to be sitting up a little higher than a standard car while driving. It is a V6, so the gas mileage isn't great, but it isn't terrible either. I owned an Isuzu Trooper (another SUV) a while back, and the Sportage is definitely more gas friendly than the Trooper. The acceleration, braking, and handling are all good. No complaints with any of that. It feels very safe to drive. I don't worry about it rolling over like I've heard some of those larger SUV's can do. I still take caution going around corners though, just in case. I haven't had to take it to the shop in the year and a half that I've had it. Other than oil changes, and a battery replacement, it hasn't needed any work at all. My only complaint was the light colored seats and floor, because they show dirt more than a dark interior would. Especially if you work in a dirty factory like I do. This is an easy fix though, with some seat covers and darker floor mats. Or a change of clothes/shoes, if you're going to be getting dirty. In conclusion, I would say I am very pleased with the vehicle.
