Mediocre car with some uses.
It has gotten me a lot of places and I have a ton of memories involving my car which I will never forget but mostly it has been a lot of hassle with getting it fixed and putting money into the car. The main issues stemmed from the front alignment and have had to replace many parts over and over from the way it wears. This was my first car to have a 6 disc CD player, so that was a big upgrade from a tape player!
Can drive for a lot of miles, lots of room inside and great gas mileage.
I really liked the spacious inside. It was a really good car when you have a kid. It had a huge trunk to store things in when going on vacation. The car I had was over 200,000 miles, and it was still running great like it was brand new. The only downside of the car I had was the air conditioning went out after I had it a few years, and I heard that was common to have problems with that, but It was an easy fix. I would highly recommend this car. Drove very smooth too. I loved this car it started rusted after having it 10 years, but that is actually pretty good! I just ended up getting a new car and decided to upgrade. I would love to have a brand new sable again. It was also easy getting out and in. It wasn't low to the ground and even my grandma had no problem getting herself in and out of it!
Old but reliable!
I got my 1998 Mercury Sable when I turned 14 and drove it back and forth to school. I am 25 now and am still driving it to work. The styling of the car is classic - I see many Sables and Taurus's on the roads still. Mine has a spoiler on the trunk, so it is unique in that sense. The seats are very comfortable; a couple years ago I found out that you can adjust the firmness of the driver's seat, so that is pretty cool. It is definitely roomy enough - both the cabin and trunk. It definitely has made some weird noises in the last ten years, but they eventually would go away on their own or when I took it in to get something fixed, which was probably once every two years on average that it broke down. With the gas mileage averaging about 26mpg, I would say that, the maintenance, and repair costs have been fair over the last ten years. It is a fun car to drive. It accelerates better than any other car I've driven (which isn't saying a whole lot, but I've driven quite a few). Braking and handling are great as well.
