Great Reliability for Price
First, my car has 172k miles on it and it is still running strong and smooth. It was mainly highway miles coming from NJ but now it's in NYC. I've changed the timing belt, brakes and struts (nyc has a lot of potholes). It still drives smooth and has a lot of power in it. The trim package came with heated and power leather seats, traction control, sunroof, electronic climate control and a Bose speaker system. I've seen the same types of Maxima with the seats in perfect condition, but mine are slightly cracking. The climate control buttons also tend to lose power from time to time. Performance wise it's very sturdy, and handles okay but I'm not a fan of the turning radius. The exterior of the car is pretty good as well and the model is pretty common so I don't feel like I'm driving a 16 year old car. The only exterior exception is the VERY common rear wheel well rust. It's not many you will find without that rust in the northeast US. Overall, parts are inexpensive and it's pretty good on gas as well. I get about 200 on a full tank and I'm heavy footed.

I like that the car is reliable and drives comfortably. The quality of the leather seats are still great after all these years. The interior is still intact and looks pretty much the way it did when I first purchased the car. Additionally, there are no leaks in the sunroof, which is amazing considering some cars do have this problem after a few years. I love the comfortable seats, the smoothness of the drive, and the body style. There really isn't anything to dislike other than when the car does have to be repaired, it's expensive due to the fact that it's a foreign car.

This is an excellent workhorse car that I have owned for years. It has run consistently well over the last 18 years. There have been no (knock on wood) significant problems over the time period except loss of air conditioning. There are very few interior rattles, even though it has clocked over 180,000 miles. The electronics are dated but still useful. The undercarriage is pretty close to the ground, so it tends to bottom out more times than I prefer, but I have never had serious problems because of that. Fuel economy is pretty good. I think that I get about 18 miles per gallon. It consistently passes inspections in the state where I live (Texas). All this being said, I don't particularly take that good of a care of the car, especially considering the age, so I am particularly impressed with its continued performance. There is also a lot of trunk space and heated leather seats. I intend to keep driving this car until it finally gives up the ghost. I would recommend this car to tall people, because there is a lot of leg room in both the front and the back of the car.
