I've driven a focus for almost 10 years now and put over 150k miles into it. The Ford focus is extremely affordable, reliable, and a great daily commuter. The lack of HP is made up for by it's light weight.
Story
The Focus was the first car I ever learned to drive in. When I swapped seats with my mom to take the wheel for the first time - A police officer pulled over and stopped about 100 yards in front of me. Needless to say, my first time behind the wheel was a bit nerve wracking.
Pros
It's an extremely reliable car that has passed the test of time.
Cons
It is mass produced so quality isn't the greatest. However, when things do break down, it is super cheap to replace. For instance, it is cheaper to completely replace the rotors than it is to re-machine the old ones. In total it costs about $20.

My wife and I bought this vehicle when we had our second child. We knew that we would be running out of room if we both kept our smaller sedans, so we began looking for something bigger. We both hated the idea of getting a minivan and being "those people" (no offense to those people). So, when we found these, we were very impressed. We had initially desired a Chevy Traverse, but found them to be hard to see out the back and cheaply made. This was not that. These are great vehicles that are dependable and high quality. We love the look, the interior, everything about it! It has had zero issues since we bought it (minus the normal wear and tear issues that come up with a vehicle with over 100,000 miles on it). Story
The best memory in this vehicle is driving it almost 36 hours from Wisconsin to Georgia. The time spent in that vehicle can never be replaced. I will always remember the songs we sang, the conversations we had and the funny we had looking at the countryside as we drove for hours on end.
Pros
Reliable. Ease of driving. Tech features (Ford Connect, Bluetooth, etc.). Fuel economy. Storage and comfort.
Cons
Most parts have to be Ford brand parts (so more expensive to fix). Initial cost was more expensive than Chevy vehicles (of comparable size).
