The Honda CR-V was brought to my attention while I was searching for a mid-sized vehicle to purchase after my sedan was totaled in a fender bender (I was not the at-fault party). My goal was to be able to sit up higher (so as to see more of my surroundings and fellow drivers) and so have more safety features on my vehicle. The recommendations and reviews of other drivers led me to narrow my search down to Honda CR-Vs and Toyota RAV4s. I was able to test drive both vehicles, and ultimately chose the Honda CR-V. The result was that I fell in love with the Honda CR-V. It far surpassed the Toyota RAV4 in all areas.
Story
The back seats fold down completely flat and have made it so easy to pack up camping & fishing gear for weekend or day trips!
Pros
Every year Honda has made a CR-V, the models have become more and more sleek. So many other companies have started with a very boxy design and not done much to move past that. The front end of the CR-V is shorter and makes it such a an easy task to pull into parking spots, make tight turns, and more. The side view mirrors have a slight curve on the outer edges that allow me to better see into the blind spots which is a great safety feature! Another aspect I love about this vehicle is its unique dashboard feature that allows you to gauge how fuel efficient you are being while driving. The l... (more)
Cons
I love this car so much that it is hard to think of a con. Even with the great side-view mirrors, I still need to glance over my shoulders to completely view the vehicle's blind spots. The gas pedals are also very sensitive and it can be hard to not have a lurch when you first start after a stop sign or stop light.

2012 Honda CR-V - The most reliable, versatile car I've owned.

The Honda CRV is built to last. I've owned several that easily make it over 250,000 miles with few repairs beyond regular dealership suggested maintenance. My current CRV has 75,000 and drives like new. All interior switches, knobs, and buttons are intact and functional despite constant use, and with a detailed monthly cleaning, the inside looks new as well. It's quiet on the highway, gets fantastic mileage, and heats and cools quickly even in the most extreme weather. It turns on a dime, and the back-up camera is a great help in getting in and out of tight spots. The incredibly roomy hatch can hold a ton of stuff. The lines and styling are classic and timeless. It has many of the newer tech features like Bluetooth, usb ports, and hands-free features. The controls are intuitive and eas... (more)
Story
In one weekend this car easily preformed as a home health vehicle, a moving van for a child off to college with a dorm full of stuff, and a car camper.
Pros
I love the ample headroom and the ability to easily enter and exit with very little effort as it's the perfect height. There is excellent visibility with all the windows. It's thoughtfully designed inside with roomy nooks and crannies to store items and a ton of cup holders. The seats quickly fold down and up for large items. We have fit skis, ladders, long wooden boards, and all manner of things in the vehicle.
Cons
You need to make sure you review the year and see how the air compressor was on the make and model. That's the most costly repair I've had on my CRVs.

This dealership offered free oil changes for life. The sales staff was less pushy than the other dealership that we went to. We knew others who had purchased from this dealership in the past and we could earn them a referral bonus if we purchased there.

There was minimal behind closed door haggling and everything seemed pretty straightforward. The dealership was nice and we liked our sales person. Altogether a comfortable car buying experience.
