This SUV looks rugged, but in a more upscale way. I like the width and sturdiness of the profile. It is sleek without being fussy or pretentious. The interior is roomy and comfortable and the third row seat more than fits our needs. We haven't had it a long time, but have had no service issues yet. Reliability reviews are excellent; Honda trucks of this age do have some reported transmission issues, but seem to have fairly low incidence and we have not experienced these yet. The gas mileage isn't great, but we knew that before driving and the all wheel drive is worth it. The eco-drive transmission system does hesitate sometimes searching for the most efficient gear, but that seems to be more of a quirk than a real problem. It seems to really grip the road with the Goodyear tires that came with it. It is enjoyable to drive and handles well. It has a tighter turning radius that other vehicles this size that I have driven and drives more like a truck than a car, which is a positive in my book. It has stellar crash test reviews and I definitely feel the sturdiness, security and control when I drive it.

My 2004 Honda Pilot was purchased used three years ago. It had some rust in the undercarriage but not enough to cause concern. It only had 45,000 miles on it so we were thrilled to buy it. Only minor repairs needed. Some of the leather was torn but otherwise looked great. it is a high-performance vehicle. Good for long trips and for short trips in bad weather. The four-wheel drive option is very useful in snow.
