The Subaru Forester feels like a vehicle that will still be on the road 20 years from now. The boxer engine is made well and has more "get up and go" than other 4-cylinder engines I've owned before. The interior is well designed and the dashboard functions are easy to access while driving. Important for me, the air conditioner is so good my dogs can feel its effects in the very back of the vehicle.
Story
The Subaru Forester can go off-road as advertised. Anytime I can get a bit of mud on the car, I'm happy.
Pros
The Subaru Forester is quite efficient, getting about 27 mpg on the highway and 21 in the city. I can fill up once a week and not have to fill the car again until the following weekend. Additionally, the car is easy to maintain. The oil required in an oil change lasts longer than standard oil. I can usually swing 5000 - 7000 miles between changes.
Cons
For all of its great qualities, I wish the Subaru Forester was a bit longer. The headroom in the car is fantastic, but the cargo area could be quite bigger. Though both of my dogs can fit into the back of the car during a trip, I'm sure they would appreciate having more room to stretch and be comfortable on longer drives.

I love this car. It's solid; everything is still fresh in the interior. I haven't had one mechanical problem; I've just changed the oil and tires. This is my third Subaru, and it's the best of a great bunch. The paint is still sharp, and the black interior hasn't faded a bit. I still get about the same miles per gallon as I did when it was new. I may pass this car down to my son when he turns 16 and buy another Forester.
Story
It's a great road trip SUV. Lots of room, extremely comfortable. My son has lots of room in the back. I am 6'5", and my Forester is extremely comfortable. The seats have lots of lumbar support, so road trips are great.
Pros
No repairs at all, just routine maintenance. I love how high I sit over traffic, and it's really easy to get in and out of it. My wife has forgotten I've parked behind her twice and rammed into the front bumper, but there's been no damage either time. The SUV still looks really sharp inside and out, and all I've had to do is wash it. The steering is great, and the brakes are solid. I really love my Forester.
Cons
The only possible drawback for Subarus, although the company is getting much better, is that the MPGs isn't so great, probably because of the all-wheel drive. T

They had the car that I was looking for at a good price. They did a fair deal for the truck that I traded in.
