Hyundai Elantra Owner Ratings & Reviews

2008 Hyundai Elantra - A great and reliable vehicle.
I have been extremely satisfied with my 2008 Hyundai Elantra. It was given to me as a gift, which certainly helps, but my positive review is founded in concrete examples. In summary, this is a great and reliable vehicle that will get you where you need to go, not be very needy, and will also look good while doing it. My experience with Hyundai's have been that they are well-built (i.e., I've driven it close to 200,000 miles, and it's been holding up without needing many repairs beyond ordinary maintenance), and it also looks very nice -- better than another car at its price.
Story
I drove up the East coast with a few friends from college and made a lot of great memories in the car.
Pros
My favorite things about the car are the quality of its construction, the look (sleek and economical), the ease of self-servicing, and its mileage.
Cons
The main things I would wish improved on the car are the interior sound system and trunk space. The latter, in particular, could be improved upon, although the ability to open the back of the trunk into the main cabin of the car certainly helps to mitigate this shortcoming.
2010 Hyundai Elantra - Very satisfied
My car is perfect for my needs. It is not a luxury car by any means, however I am extremely satisfied with this car. It is very comfortable as far as compact sedans go. It is easy to drive and handle. I especially appreciate the good turn radius on the car as it makes it easier to park in tight spaces, Parallel Park and make U-turns. The car has pretty good acceleration speeds and good stiff breaks. The look of the Elantra has changed a lot since the 2010 model. I like the model I have, but I do think the newer Elantra models have a much sleeker look. I take my car in for regular maintenance, and I once had to take the car in for a recall on a small electrical part. I have not had any repairs other than the typical oil, change, alignment, and new windshield wiper blades. The repair cos... (more)
Story
I love to take my dog driving in the car. For whatever reason he really dislikes motorcycles and whenever he sees them he starts going crazy barking at them.
Pros
The top positive things about my car would definitely be the price to buy the car. My Elantra was the first car that I bought. I felt that compared to other vehicles on the market that the Elantra was an affordable option for me, especially given the superior warranty that Hyundai offers. I also think that the size of the car works to its advantage. The car has a great turn radius which lends to easier parking, parallel parking, making u-turns and overall ease of handling. The car is compact and light which I think helps give it a great gas mileage for not being a very expensive or hybrid ... (more)
Cons
The top negative thing about the Elantra, which is most likely unavoidable due to its size, is the risk of hydroplaning and losing control on ice patches in the winter. Living in a place where it rains a lot and where water gathers in the road, I have noticed that the Elantra is very easy to hydroplane. Therefore, when it is raining I have to drive extra slow near areas where rain gathers in the road. I understand the need to drive cautiously in the rain, but I have noticed that the Elantra more than the other model cars I have driven is prone to hydroplaning. I have also noticed that it g...
