The Toyota Corolla was bought used with 130k miles. There have been no problems with any of the engine components, and routine maintenance keeps the car running without any issues. The mileage per tank has barely decreased, even after putting an additional 35k miles on the engine, and the accessories that came with the car all function perfectly. There are plenty of cup holders, and the interior feels spacious and roomy.
Story
Our family used this car as a second vehicle to go to an amusement park. We missed an exit and had to reroute to get back to the first vehicle!
Pros
The car runs smoothly, and there have been no major incidents with engine problems. The mileage (24 city/ 30 highway) is impressive since the engine has over 150k miles on it. The seats are comfortable, and the seat belts and air bags have never been deployed. The suspension has seen significant usage but still does not shudder at high speeds or have any other noticeable problems.
Cons
The car is a bare-bones car. There is no cruise control. Powered features are non-existent in this car, minus the power steering. There are no USB ports for charging mobile devices, as it is an older model. There are also no power locks on the doors, requiring you to manually unlock all of the doors.

1999 Toyota Corolla - A very reliable vehicle requiring few repairs.

The Toyota Corolla has been one of the best Japanese cars in terms of reliability and low maintenance. It is by far one of the best cars I have owned because of those qualities. The Corolla will typically last over 200,000 miles with very little need for repairs and, even after a full makeover, can last many more. In years past, the Corolla was rated near the Mercedes as far as low maintenance and repair cost according to Consumer Report magazine. I highly recommend this car.
Story
Driving comfortably at higher speeds on large highways.
Pros
Low repair and maintenance costs. Very reliable transportation.
Cons
Only that the small size prevents you from loading larger objects to carry but that is the nature of subcompacts.
