I love to drive my Volkswagen Jetta. It has a nice "punch" to the driving-- it accelerates quickly, takes turns well, and has responsive brakes. I find other similar cars to not be as much fun to drive. I have owned my Volkswagen Jetta for about 10 years now and found it to be an enjoyable car to drive while I'm young and am mostly driving by myself. However, my Jetta has a lot of "quirky" problems that make me feel like it is unreliable. For example, the sunroof opens and closes randomly while I am driving it. The driver's side window stopped working. My locks have stopped working (they will lock but not unlock easily) and so I have not locked my car in about 6 months. A big metal piece (oil pan skid plate?) Straight up fell off of my car about 6 months ago. I have also had a lot of ... (more)
Pros
My car is fun to drive.
Cons
My car has strange maintenance problems.

My car is a white 2003 Jetta GL. I bought it used. It is a manual and rather "peppy." It does, however, have the worst clutch bite point of any manual transmission car I have ever driven. I stall it all the time, whereas otherwise I am fine driving a manual. Also, the window on the drivers side door does not stay all the way rolled up, and I have to cover it to keep rain from getting inside. Other than these problems, though, it is a workhorse. It is very reliable, and the interior is solidly constructed. Also, a note about the interior. It was apparently coated with a protectorant that now makes the entire car smell like melting crayons, but it doesn't take too long to get used to this.
Story
Learning how to drive a stick shift in the mountains was an "enjoyable" experience. There were a number of times where I stalled the car five or more times before I could get it going on a hill. I owe all of this to the terrible clutch.
Pros
Lots of pep Reliable engine Bombproof interior Easy to find replacement parts for it.
Cons
Window on drivers side door is broken Terrible clutch Weird Smell

Excellent customer service when taking the car in for warranty related repairs. Low pressure salesmen. Sales workers were eager to let me test drive several types of cars. I was given a loaner car with no hassle when I had recall work that needed to be performed. Excellent stock of cars on site.
