The 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Had been one of the best purchases of my life. I bought it 1n 2001 and it has taken everything I could throw at it with a smile. from the daily commute to offloading in the state park to camping in Yosemite. Snow, ice, rain, even an accident. It handled it all like a trooper. The interior is amazingly comfortable. I'm a big guy, and some cars and trucks I just don't fit in. The Jeep is comfortable, with wide seats and plenty of legroom. Even in the back seat I am comfortable. the wash and control panels are beautiful, with a sound system that takes you away to your favorite concert like you were there. The exterior is beautiful. It really speaks to rugged Americanism and craftsmanship. A nice paint job, aluminum rims come standard. All in all its been an am... (more)
Story
Too many to list! I think car camping in Yosemite is a good one. the back hatch has plenty of room for all your gear. We set up a big tent, had the open end of the jeep in one end, and basically lived out of the car for a week. At the end we cleaned out the hibachi grill, rolled up the sleeping bags and tent and we were off. Oh, and if you like skiing or snowboarding, the roof has a rack to ha... (more)
Pros
Amazingly comfortable interior. wood trim around the consoles. A computer with gas and trip manager. controls for the stereo are on the back of the steering wheel, so you don't have to take your eyes off the road to change the station. The engine compartment is well laid out as well. easy to reach dip sticks and spark-plugs. you don't have to remove half the engine to get to the oil filter. so doing basic maintenance yourself is Easy, if you like that sort of thing. The warranty was through, so taking it in to the shop was easy and usually was covered.
Cons
It did not get great gas mileage, only 16 mpg highway and 14 city. That was the only thing I didn't care for.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. Beautiful body, nice color (I've got the red one), and it runs like a charm for the last 40,000+ miles I've driven on it. Performing maintenance on it is easy as most car parts are accessible.
Story
When I first bought the car, the salesman wanted to show me that the vehicle could still handle rough terrain despite not being a 4x4 vehicle. He has me drive it off-road out to a field where I essentially went around in circles over all kinds of bumps and dips in the road. I remember finding this amusing, because I never thought in a million years a car salesman would have me take a vehicle... (more)
Pros
The vehicle is comfortable to drive and/or sit in for long periods of time, as it is spacious in both the seating and luggage areas. It is easy to drive and hasn't given me any major maintenance/repairs problems, leaving me confident I don't have to worry about car trouble to/from the places I need to go. The tires I bought it with still have great tread despite having owned the vehicle for several years.
Cons
I do wish for better mileage, but given that I choose to drive an SUV with a boxy exterior, I can't complain too much. One thing I find frustrating is the vehicle takes forever to connect Bluetooth for phone app listening capability (as a Spotify user) making it frustrating when you want to get in the car and go.
