2015 Mazda Mazda3 -
I decided to purchase my Mazda3 after test-driving several other similar vehicles. I was in the market for a vehicle that could transport me a total of two hours of commute time. For this reason, I was looking for smaller, fuel-efficient vehicles. Because I was just starting my first full-time job, I was financing a car and did not want to spend over 20,000 dollars for the vehicle. I test-drove both the Mazda3 and a Mazda3 hatchback and wound up enjoying the feel of the Mazda3 more. Driving is fun for me, so I was happy to find a car that steers smoothly, can get off the line pretty quickly, and is comfortable to spend long commuting times in. I also enjoyed the comfy but sophisticated look and feel of the interior, as well as the sleek look of the exterior. To me, this car feels like ... (more)
Story
I bought a really nice inflatable kayak and love driving up to put-in areas, unloading my kayak, and taking off on an adventure! Skipped the roof rack hassle and have had some very fun drives to kayak destinations.
Pros
Comfortable seats. Smooth driving and steering feel. Smooth, quick accelerations. Good visibility from mirrors/windows. Attractive exterior. Attractive interior. More storage than expected in trunk. Good media function and display.
Cons
Back-up camera and blind spot monitor were not standard (may have changed for newer models). Windshield wipers get streaky pretty quickly. Back seats are small for some people.
2010 Mazda Mazda3 - Reliable and (kind of) sporty sedan.
The car has been very solid overall. As it's an entry-level car, there are some build/trim issues that you have to live with (squeaks, rattles, generally mediocre quality of some parts), but the engine has never missed a beat, and the suspension/handling has been very good. The s Sport has a firm ride, but it's a good highway cruiser with low wind noise. It has not had a serious mechanical issue in the six years that I've owned it and now has 77,000+ miles on it.
Story
Driving through the Blue Ridge Mountains was a phenomenal experience -- windows and sunroof open, tunes blaring through the Bose speakers, and using the manual transmission to its full potential going up and down and around all the twists and turns.
Pros
The performance of the car has been a surprise -- it's just a 2.5 liter engine without a turbo charger -- with really solid cornering thanks to the wide tires, a really fun third and fourth gear (I have a manual transmission and can run through the rev range), and very good brakes. Had the best driving position of any car in its class that I tested.
Cons
Even though the s Sport is one of the better trim packages for the 2010 Mazda 3, it's still very much an entry-level car. The interior trim is plastic-y and early on there were some rattles and squeaks. Also, the combined mileage for the car has been about 28 mpg, which is a little low for a small car with a four-cylinder engine.

2012 Mazda Mazda3 - Rich Morton Mazda Pasadena
When I got to the dealership I wasn't followed by a sales person right away. They let me looks at cars myself and browse different vehicles, letting me decide what I wanted to look at for the price I was willing to pay. They even let me test drive the vehicle I ended up buying without a sales person present. They were friendly and helpful when I did need help and I bought a car that day.
2012 Mazda Mazda2 - Fitzgerald Auto Mall Frederick
The salesman Bobby Brown who helped me. He made everything easy and right. He even bought me a car manual after I had returned home with the car when I realized it didn't have one--at his own expense. He was the nicest, best car salesman I've ever met. In the past most of them had simply irritated me.
The only thing that wasn't good was the maintenance guy who came to look at the charging port, which wouldn't work with my phone charger. He tried to blame my charger. When I told Bobby, he found some alcohol and cleaned the inside of the port carefully, and then it began working.
