Hard to see out of
I wanted a navy blue one. They didn't have any too look at with that color. I'm not happy with the color. The head rest tilts forward too much. I'm short so it hurts my neck to leave it like that. I have to flip it backwards so it won't hurt my neck. We got the million-mile warranty with no deductible, which was very expensive, but we won't have to worry about repairs ever. It drives okay but has swerved when the roads have water.

RAM 1500
I never aspired to own a pickup. I didn't research which was best among all the various brands. I simply went to the lot and found one that looked nice. I settled on the 2014 Ram 1500. I love the Ram boxes. There's plenty of storage there for anything I might need. I went with a truck bed liner and added a tonnoeau cover as well. I even put a pad in there once I started hauling people around with it.

Transmission problems
When I purchased the truck, I also purchased an extended warranty. Of course, I thought that this would also extend the drive train. Much to my dismay, after 120,000 miles when the transmission started experiencing trouble, I found out that the drive train warranty was for 100,000 miles and was not included in the extended warranty. This transmission should not have started having trouble at 120,000 miles.

2014 Dodge Ram 1500 ReportCard Review

Autolist ReportCard Score: 97/100

Pros:

  • Only turbo diesel engine in its class
  • Comfortable interior with a lot of storage areas
  • Composed and smooth ride
  • Excellent gas mileage and towing capacity

Cons:

  • Upper trim levels can get pricey
  • Style may prove too much for conservative truck buyers
  • Seasoned pickup truck drivers might be thrown off by the rotary shift knob
  • Awkward 8-speed rotary gear selector

Review Summary:

The 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 gets excellent gas mileage and has the only turbo engine in its class.

The ride of the Ram 1500 is exceptionally smooth; however, the 8-speed rotary gear selector is awkward and seasoned pickup truck drivers may be thrown off by the rotary feature.

While the upper trim levels can get a bit pricey than desired, there is a comfortable interior and plenty of storage areas to secure personal items and gear.

The style of the Ram 1500 may be too much for buyers who are typically more conservative, but the towing capacity is excellent.
