2008 Toyota Avalon - A great and reliable car.
This is a fairly gas-conservative car that can get around 25 mpg on the highway, 10-15 in the city. It has great speed and maneuverability as well as general aesthetics. It is, however, quite a wide car. Therefore it often gets hard to park in some places. Overall I think it functions nicely and it has tons of features through a front console screen.
Story
On a date I once accidentally put the car into reverse instead of drive. My date then berated me about my driving skills. Needless to say we didn't go on a second date.
Pros
It has great gas mileage and it handles really nicely. It's a very smooth ride and it can actually accelerate rather quickly.
Cons
It's a big car. Bigger than it needs to be. Nobody really needs that much trunk space except for on the rare occasion. I also don't care for the sunroof.
2003 Toyota Avalon - Reliable
I went in for the leather seats. I remember the car salesman saying "so, you're a republican, huh?" when he saw that I liked them. I'm not a republican, but who doesn't like leather? Total granny luxury car. The acceleration and braking suck, but it's comfortable and reliable. I bought it five years ago, and other than oil changes, brakes and tires, the only "oopsie" was a blown charcoal canister for 800 bucks. Definitely lives up to the Toyota reputation for longevity. My kid cousin calls it the casual tuxedo. Everyone I know says it looks nice. You can tell it's old, but you can't tell it's old, know what I mean?
Story
I got a rental car once and almost got rear ended because the brakes were so much more responsive than what I was used to. The Avalon can do anything another car can do, but you'll be pushing the brake/gas pedal down further or spinning the wheel more. It's not very responsive. Also, lack of audio hookup/Bluetooth is a pain, but they didn't have those back in 2003 anyway.
Pros
Luxury feel and look. Reliable. Holds value well. Low maintenance. Great tall-person car!
Cons
Mediocre handling and acceleration. Gas mileage could be better. It's big, and it doesn't turn on a dime. Parking is a real pain.

I loved the purchasing experiment as they did not negotiate but service was too good

Salesman was very honest and helped find discounts to save money. He suggested a student discount that I didn't even know existed.
