2012 Toyota Corolla - Reliable car, nothing fancy.

No bells and whistles in this car, but it served its purpose well and was a good family car (for my family of 4). Never had any huge problems with it, only time it ever needed to be taken to the shop was once after a minor accident (passenger door got rammed) and for regular maintenance - oil change and such. Did have the engine light on for a while which was troubling, but that resolved quickly enough and wasn't major. Extra features would have been great, like seen in newer/more expensive cars (rear cameras, Bluetooth capabilities), but for the price paid it had all I needed for transportation purposes. Never had any problem with the A/C, which is a big one for me in the warm climates I've lived in with this car. It's not the smoothest drive, but not noticeably rattly either. This wa... (more)
Story
Several road trips between Texas and California have occurred in this car, and those have all been a challenging but also fun time with my family and our pets.
Pros
The reliability of the vehicle is my favorite feature. There's nothing particularly outstanding about this car but it hasn't really given me a whole lot of difficulty in the time I've had it, compared to other cars owned in my family. It's withstood a lot of use so far, and I see myself keeping it for a long time yet.
Cons
I wish this vehicle were more up-to-date with recent technologies (things such as rear cameras to help with parking/backing out, or built-in navigation systems, or a more up-to-date stereo system that allows for Bluetooth connection). But these are not things that I paid for, so that's understandable.

This car was purchased in an emergency after my previous car was completely totaled by a hit and run driver. Aside from my two jobs, I was about three months from graduating college and had to make a fifty-mile round trip four days a week. This car was bought with cash and had a little over 100k miles on it but ran with no major problems, passed smog, got good gas mileage, sounded good and looked good. It got me to and from school no problem and still runs good to years later.
Story
My boyfriend and I watched fireworks while sitting in this car. We drove it up to the mountains so we could see the fireworks going off all over our city. It was so comfortable and private being in our own car.
Pros
One of the biggest pros about this vehicle is that it has a manual transmission and therefore gets better gas quality than the previous cars I have owned. Another huge benefit of this car is that is has a good quality air conditioner, a must-have where I live in California. The cold air reaches into the back seat without taking away from the people in front. Came with power door locks and power windows, a nice extra feature to have.
Cons
The check-engine light came on working just a few days of purchasing the car. It has been over two years and the light continues to go on and off sporadically. However, it doesn't seem to be affecting its ability to operate but was nice when the car needed to be smogged. Although the air conditioner works well, turning it on does affect the acceleration power of car, especially when in the lower gears, and also negatively affect the overall gas mileage.
