By no means glamorous, the Toyota Yaris has nonetheless proven to be an excellent commuter car, both during college and my first few years of working professionally. It has gone 203,000 miles with only basic maintenance, and showing no signs of slowing down. It has good storage for a car of its size. The car has been great for kinds of driving, be it for various on-demand services or commuting or long-distance road trips.
Story
A parking cop applauded when I parallel parked into a teeny tiny space. It was a very proud moment.
Pros
Its small size is incredible for parking on narrow and crowded city streets, and its fuel economy is also very good. Though not particularly stylish, it does have a distinctive silhouette. I wish I had sprung for the four-door version, out of convenience. The locks tend to get stuck in the winter. I also wish that I had grabbed power windows and locks, but those options are of course available for anyone looking to pick up a new vehicle.
Cons
I'm a tall person, and it can be crowded to ride in the car, because of the pilot seat nature of it, instead of something like a bucket seat which would allow me to stretch my legs a bit. Tough on the old joints.

2015 Toyota Yaris - This car fits me like a glove.

I adore this car. I call her Sapphire for her beautiful blue color. The nose of the car is short so I can gauge distance while I'm parking. It drives smoothly and the seats are comfortable. The turning radius is the best I've ever driven. Gas mileage is great (~30 mpg), but the tank is small. The Bluetooth option is superb and user friendly. Since Toyota is so reliable and I am a low mileage driver, it will last at least another 20 years.
Story
When I first got the car, my nieces we're thrilled to take it in the drive in car washer. I try to wait until they can be with me to get my car washed.
Pros
It's small enough to maneuver but large enough to be comfortable. The turning radius is small & maneuverable. The rear window is larger than other cars in its class. The gas mileage is great. It's an attractive car.
Cons
The gas tank is small. There is a slow response time while accelerating.
