2016 Toyota Prius - Good Prius.
My 2016 Prius is a wonderful car. I am so glad that I purchased this car last year. There are several things about this car that I really like. The first notable thing is the savings on fuel costs. Everybody knows that a Prius saves you money on gas, but to have it be a real truth in your life is an amazing feeling. It only costs me $30 to fill up the tank and it'll last me about a week and a half. Keep in mind that I drive a lot everyday for work and my previous car cost $60 to fill up the tank and it would barely last me a full week. I also like the modern interior with the latest gadgets and equipment. The key-less entry and start/stop buttons are always a plus. I also love the backup camera that assists me whenever I need to pull out of the driveway or parking spot. The one gripe t... (more)
Story
One fun memory I had with this car was spending a full hour inside my car with my 2 year old son. He loves playing with the steering wheel and pressing all the buttons, so we just stayed inside the car together for an hour and I let my son have the time of his life playing the interior of my car.
Pros
My top positive thing about this vehicle is the fuel savings. You can expect to save a lot of money on gas when driving this car.
Cons
My top negative thing about this car is the low horsepower. It's not going to win any races, but I guess if you're driving a Prius, speed was already not a priority for you.
2012 Toyota Prius - Decent, but lower standards of comfort.
My Toyota Prius is what one would call a cost-efficient vehicle, a car that fulfills the purpose of effectively getting a driver from point A to point B reliably and, apart from one incident when the hybrid battery failed (and we had to call AAA service to come and rescue us), has never failed to deliver. However, while it does the job, driving comfort and smoothness is relatively lacking. It feels, in fact, like one is driving a relatively cheaper car than in fact the Prius qualifies for, and in some ways it reminds me of a "mom-mobile" but in mini. Overall, if one wants to feel stylish, other options beckon.
Story
The incident where our battery died and we had to contact AAA to bail us out of our jam. At the time, it was quite disconcerting.
Pros
The main selling point (and major positive) is the fuel-efficiency and cost-savings. In addition, the trunk space is constructed with a view to maximizing the space while limiting the outside bulk (or loss in aerodynamics), and finally (due to the uncool nature of the vehicle), it provides for an effective excuse to take a friend's vehicle when given the option.
Cons
The lack of driving smoothness is the major negative. Additionally, there is an increased fear (rightly or wrongly) of the hybrid battery failing, and in the event that it does, there is a lack of flexibility in switching the car to neutral in order to either a) move it closer to another vehicle to jumpstart it, or b) solve the problem in some other manner. Therefore, one is forced to turn to AAA service.
