Akron, OH Driving Tips
Some Akronites need driving refresher courses! I've been driving a long time and I've been to quite a few states. I always know when I'm back in Akron. Some people have no clue what they are doing. So watch out for them. Also Akron's roads always seem to need work done on them. Traffic can get congested during the morning and evening rush hours and various weather conditions.
Akron, OH Buying Tips
When I bought my latest car last year, I tend to stay with the dealer I've had good experience with. I don't use Craigslist and I don't shop at dealers who have commercials on television. I have bought four or five vehicles from my local Ford dealer in Tallmadge, Ohio, not far from where I live. They have never given me a reason to go anywhere else, and I like Ford.
Favorite driving memory
I'm not sure this is my "favorite memory" of driving in Akron, Ohio, but it's definitely memorable. It was when I was a new driver some forty years ago. As a new driver, I learned early on that some of the entrance ramps were not engineered very well. There is one entrance ramp just off of Grant Street that still bothers me today. It's just not an easy ramp to enter and get into a through lane. The entrance ramp was built a little too close to the upcoming exit ramp that drivers are trying to exit while other drivers are trying to enter. I didn't realize that I had to learn to be somewhat of an aggressive driver to get on this stretch of highway but I sure learned fast. Until I understood that, I thought I was the one with the problem. I don't live in that area of town anymore, but if I'm ever driving near there and need to get on the 76 West ramp, I'll go out of my way to enter it somewhere else.
Favorite road
Route 8 north towards the turnpike 80 East or West. Route 8 can be very congested, closer to the central interchange, but Route 8 north going towards Cuyahoga Falls and Macedonia is a peaceful ride to me. I like the openness of the highway and the scenery once I'm out of North Akron. Even farther up, towards Route 303, it's busy but peaceful. I like seeing the change of scenery during the fall of the year. Once I'm far enough up Route 8 to where I can get on the turnpike, 80 East and West, the scenery is even better. I used to work in downtown Cleveland, which was a long drive to and from work, but I found myself relaxing during the ride if I was able to glance at the trees and scenery.

Akron, OH Driving Tips
My biggest tip to people driving in the city is to be aware of the pedestrians and cross-walk. You must be patient, or someone might get hurt.
Akron, OH Buying Tips
If your inside the city most of the time, you might not need a car, but if you do need one, I would get a car that can handle starting and stopping frequently and last long idle times. My family and friends have had good experiences with the multiple Kia dealerships around the area, especially Haleen Kia and Bill Dority Kia. The dealerships have good customer service.
Favorite driving memory
This city has many different types of vehicles in it. The sizes range from a small golf cart to commercial trucks. The drivers here are usually aggressive when getting in and out of the city, but within the city, drivers are typically obedient and courteous. I commute to the University several times a week and the main concern is the pedestrians. I particularly remember driving passed an intersection and having to wait for pedestrians to cross, even though my light was green and the crosswalk signaled "stop." There will be many ignorant students and even residents within the city that ignore basic rules and do what they want and what best favors them.
Favorite road
77 South/76 East. 77 And 76 are the main highways when driving into Akron. These highways are well-maintained and had very little construction. During the snow storms an winter months, these highways were very-well kept. Snow was plowed and salt was on the road to prevent icing.
