Durable, dependable and cost efficient
I paid cash for it from a friend back in 2011 and it is already an old car being that it is 1998 Dodge Neon, yet it is very dependable, reliable, cheap to fix and the city taxes on it as well as even emission pricing and insurance costs. I have driven many many many miles on it taking my husband to work to far places from home on a daily basis, all of my doctors appointments, my autistic sons appointments for everything. I have had to repair very little considering how much I have driven it and how many miles I have put on it. When I have to repair it, it is usually cheap for the parts and for the mechanic. It really isn't too hard to fix. I like that it is made of metal, unlike the newer cars, thank goodness cause I was rear-ended 2 times in a 3 month period. There were no dents whatsoever on my car-yet the 2 people that hit the rear end of my car-their newer made vehicles were all smooshed in and I am sure it costs them a whole lot of money to repair their vehicle from their mistake. I am so glad that I have this lil dodge neon, and an older made car. The metal makes me feel safer and obviously, if I get rear-ended, it hasn't even hurt my car. The only thing I do not like about this car is it is so small. I prefer a larger, higher up off the ground vehicle. I have recently even drove it to a huge big move across the country, from Arizona to South Carolina, where I now live. It made it here with no problems. I would definitely recommend this lil car to a friend. The size is the Only thing I feel uncomfortable with, with this car.

Small car comfort with big car gas mileage
The dodge neon is one of the worst cars I've ever owned. It won't even do me the favor of breaking in a big enough way that I can justify getting rid of it. It is not comfortable, I'm only 160lbs and I can feel the bars that hold the seat together. It handles crappy, sometimes it seems to turn faster and sometimes slower. I've replaced all the steering and suspension components and had an alignment but the problem continues. I suspect incorrect caster but that isn't adjustable on this car. The car looks sporty but has very little power. It seems about as peppy as my old ford escort. But the neon also get crappy mileage. I average 27mpg. For comparison the other two cars I've owned while I had this one where a ford escort, 35 mpg, and a Hyundai elantra 32 mpg. Both of them were also more comfortable. The neon has enough brakes to stop when you need to but they aren't anything special, just not as crappy as the rest of the car. The best thing about it is the appearance. It looks good from the front. Sporty and smooth, the side looks ok too as long as you over look that the back is way higher than the front. From the back it looks silly though because you can see halfway under the car. Yes it is tilted that much from the back to the front. As long as you get a nice muffler the back could look ok though. Also I don't know if I got lucky or if Chrysler got really cheap but my neon is the first car built after 2000 that I've seen that doesn't have cruise control. You can live without it but on my other cars I use it all the time so the neon is annoying. Another oddity is that the front windows and side mirrors are power but the rear windows are manual cranks. I don't get it. The last problem I have is keeping it working. It has the amazing ability to start and drive every day, but have something break almost weekly. I have to fix it the day before it gets inspected so nothing new has time to break and it will pass. Tie rod ends, wheel bearings, brake calipers, control arm bushings, oxygen sensors, plug wires, coolant leaks, rusted out exhaust, door locks, intake manifold gaskets and probably some other things I'm forgetting have all broken and been fixed. You wouldn't believe the thing still runs but somehow it always runs and always runs poorly. I would never recommend buying this car and I will never buy one again.

Reliable
I loved that my car could turn at the drop of a hat, and I had it for so long when I say it is reliable it is just that.
