2016 Hyundai Elantra GT - Good car
Three distinct settings for feedback via the steering wheel. Comfort requires less effort at the wheel, while the Sport mode quickens response. Leather front seats that heat in the winter and cool on sweltering summer days.

The trip was planned pretty thoroughly in advance, and we spent most of the drive time playing a version of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon between our two vehicles via two-way radio. I don't mind saying the other participants in this game were shit. I dominated. Anyone would agree. I don't mind saying the other participants in this game were shit. I dominated. Anyone would agree. The plan was to live in Huntington Beach for the duration of that summer, and then evaluate whether we could or wanted to stay. We had an off-the-books three-month lease at an apartment complex with a pool a couple of blocks from the ocean. It was a sweet deal. Towards the end of our second week in California, my friend decided he was too in love with his girlfriend back home to stay any longer, and he packed up his shit into his car and took off. The three of us stayed for as long as we could afford to without his share of the rent, eating ramen burritos and non-burrito ramen, until, toward the end of July, with no means of paying any more rent, we sold a surfboard for traveling money, packed all our accumulated crap into a dying Ford Contour one very early morning, and hit the highway, with no sense whatsoever of how we were to make it across the country.
Style and practicality.

2013 Hyundai Elantra GT - Overall good buy
We bought this vehicle specifically for the gas mileage and the fact that we can transport our daughter's huge string bass musical instrument to lessons and concerts when we fold down one of the back seats. We've also driven with bass across the country without any sacrifice in comfort or performance. The bass fits just fine. This sporty car easily seats five --three if you include the string bass. It gets good performance, accelerating quickly on the highway. It's practical because of the smaller size and great gas mileage -- around 30 mpg. Plus, this car is reliable. I have had no major problems with it. No noises, no engine problems, etc. In fact, I drive this car between Dallas and Ft. Lauderdale several times a year and have been pleased with its lack of maintenance drama. The rid... (more)

The Hyundai Elantra GT should not be confused with a large luxury car, but the pros far outweigh the cons. This is a great vehicle.
My husband and I were newlyweds when we moved to St. Petersburg, FL. Many, many years - and two grown daughters -- later, we drove the car from Dallas to revisit our old hometown in Florida. After visiting friends, we drove to St. Pete beach just to watch the sun set over the gulf. It was beautiful, and it brought back memories of when we were first married.

One favorite feature is the versatility to fold down the back seats and transport cargo. Another is the car's gas mileage. We weren't ready for a hybrid or electric car and still we feel we are helping the environment by driving a vehicle that gets great mileage. Another favorite feature would be how easy it is to park this baby. The car pretty much fits anywhere.

There are a few things I would improve on the Hyundai Elantra GT. First, the car gets a little noisy on the highway. It's not a big problem, but I have to turn up my music a lot. Also, I wish the designers would change the way the air conditioning vents are positioned. In my last vehicle, I would turn the front-seat passenger A/C vents to me, the driver, if no one else was in the car. This way I could get more air. With the GT's design, though, I can't turn the vents toward me.

2012 Hyundai Elantra GT - Great, Reliable Little Car
Overall, I really like my car. I have had no problems with it. Right now my car has almost 100,000 miles (so my Power Train Warranty is about to expire) but I haven't had any problems with it. I think the fuel economy has been really good. The car is very comfortable to sit in for long drives. The car is small enough that it is very easy to park. The trunk is very roomy and the seats fold down easily so I have been able to transport a surprising amount of things in it going back and forth to IKEA. The thing I dislike most about the car is the design; it's ugly. Right now the tire sensor is broken, which is annoying but not the worst thing. Also any time the temperature drops I will have to put air in the tires because the sensor is so sensitive.

The craziest thing I have done in my car was move across the country with two cats in my car. Sigh. My boyfriend and I both had to drive our individual cars to our new state, which was across the country. So we got walkie-talkies and were able to talk most of the time which was really nice. But, the poor cats were so upset to be driving 16+ hours in the car so for the first four hours the yowl... (more)

But, the poor cats were so upset to be driving 16+ hours in the car so for the first four hours the yowled no matter what I said or did for them; they were not happy. But we made it and my car did really well! It kept us warm and it didn't break down and I felt safe.
I haven't had any major problems with the car. It is very comfortable to sit in for long drives, which I have found is not true in a lot of other cars. I love the heated seats. The maintenance is inexpensive. I love the warranty it came with and this was one of the major reasons I bought the car. It has a 100,000 mile Power Train warranty and I really wanted a car that was going to last. Having the car for a long time and fuel economy were the two major things I was looking for, and I found them both with the Elantra. I was also very impressed by the safety award the Elantra got. Hyundai lied about the MPG when I bought the car. The acceleration is slower than I would like. The car has a very sharp atheistic and it's generally ugly. I have also had A LOT of problems with the sensors that measure tire pressure. Whenever the temperature drops in the fall and into the winter the tire pressure sensor always goes crazy and I have to pump up my tires.
