2004 Mitsubishi Lancer - Mitsubishi Lancer - A Worthwhile Purchase
My Lancer has been a great purchase. The car is sporty, yet functional. It has a lot of room to haul items if need be (and people and pets) while still remaining a very compact, comfortable size. We have driven the car over 150,000 miles and purchased it over 10 years ago. We plan to drive it until it stops running and at this point, I don't see the end in sight.
Historia
We took the Sportback to the mountains on vacation one winter. We stayed in a cabin that was at the very top a steep hill. The hill was covered in snow. We were told that unless we had 4WD we would not be making it up the hill. My husband did not accept this as a fact, instead he viewed it as a challenge to get the car up the hill. A Favor
The safety and performance features have been excellent for our family. The roominess of the cabin has been wonderful for our family of four. Until just recently, this was our main family car and went on many trips with us. We never had a problem with it. We were also able to fit two adults, two children (under the age of 10), a Labrador Retriever/Boxer mix and all our stuff and still ride comfortably.
En Contra
The knob for the heating/cooling system control went out. It had gone out earlier and was covered under warranty at that time. The suspension of the car is a bit stiff, making for a rough ride at times. We found the faster you drive it, the smoother the ride - this could be a pro or a con, depending on your taste!
2004 Mitsubishi Lancer - Solid engine, dependable car, but made with cheap materials.
The car performed very well for a few years after I bought it new. Even though it is a compact car, I liked the color and styling I choose. It had a more sophisticated look than a typical compact car. With higher mileage, the car starts (1000,000 miles) to show its limitations. The engine seems more sluggish, and one can begin to notice the cheaper materials the car was made with. The interior starts to wear a little bit. With higher mileage, more expensive repairs start to become more prevalent.

Driving long distances on a beautiful day, and listening to my favorite music on the great stereo the car is equipped with.
A Favor
The price, and solid drive. It is a sporty vehicle, although I still prefer a more powerful engine. I liked the interior, stereo, and the fact that the back seat folded down for transporting larger objects. The heating and air conditioning have always worked very well, both are quite powerful. The heat warms the car very quickly.
En Contra
The mileage is not great. The interior is made with cheap materials, such as plastic. As the car gets older, one can really see the overall wear. The car easily dents and the paint easily scratches. The crash test reports were not favorable. It is not considered a very safe vehicle.
