Driving in St. Petersburg, particularly the north side, is very convenient. There is access to the main interstate I275 and allows for commuting to Tampa, Sarasota, all of St. Petersburg and even parts of Clearwater and Largo. In addition to the interstate location being convenient, it is also extremely easy to access an on ramp, even from local neighborhoods such as Meadowlawn, Kiwanis Park area, downtown St. Pete, etc. There isn't too much of a traffic build up during rush hour but there are a lot of school zones.

I rely on word of mouth. I would avoid small buy here dealers as they tend to go out of business quickly in some areas. Also cars seem to be more expensive in St. Petersburg but a quick trip to a different county can save you some money. Also, if you are living in the downtown St. Petersburg area, I would not recommend a big car or truck. Parking is limited and often it is parallel parking. From personal experience, I can tell you that many people parallel park horribly and don't leave much space. My recommendation for a location to go for a bunch of cars would be online through the dealership because they can search their inventory and save you the trouble of driving everywhere.

My favorite memory driving in St. Petersburg would be my first drive down Coffee Pot Blvd, located off of 22nd Avenue N. And 1st Street North, heading south on 1st Street. To the left is Coffee Pot Bayou and to the right are some extremely unique, expensive, historic houses. During the day, the sidewalk is busy with people jogging, walking their dogs, pushing strollers and fishing. The water is always filled with boats and paddle boarders. Further south is Vinoy Park which does a lot of Christmas light display and can be a lot of fun for the family.

Park Street by 5th Avenue N.. The road is original brick and gives the road a neighborhood charm feel. The houses on this road are extremely expensive but the landscaping mixed with the bay is an amazing view. Further down the road is Abercrombie Park which is small and really only has a gazebo and a small fishing dock. But it is peaceful and a very relaxing drive.

Take your time to take in the beauty of the city. Go out and drive by all the sights and businesses downtown and by the beach, there are so many fun and new places to try you'll find you will wonder why you never knew about them before!

You should be able to buy a car that is able to handle lots of sunshine and rain. I would recommend looking on craigslist for local deals and always make sure it is a safe and reliable vehicle with good gas mileage.

My favorite memory from driving around St. Petersburg is driving down by then newly remodeled area of Sundial on 2nd Ave North in downtown. Originally me and my husband were just looking at the new things around town. Restaurants, clothing shops, markets, movie theatre, ice cream and gelato shops, and more we saw just by a quick drive around town. So much to see and explore! Then continuing down the street you can drive to the pier, and also down to see the beautiful beaches and bay. By just driving you can see so much about a new place or city, we planned a whole day of going to new places and trying new things. From deep see fishing ads we saw near the beach, to a nice restaurant and see a new movie we saw near the Sundial area. It is lovely what you can see and get out of just a simple drive you went on out of being bored one day.

Central Ave.. 2Nd Ave North downtown by Sundial is my favorite, because the architecture and new businesses, to the slow pace of traffic, and it's somehow never busy even though. The serene music adds a nice touch if your windows are down.
