2005 Subaru Outback - Absolutely solid car!
I've only had this particular car for six months, and so far so good. Have been pleasantly surprised with the gas mileage (typically averaging 27-29 mpg). Performance is adequate for my needs, though I can certainly understand why some folks say they are underpowered. No mechanical issues that I have found in the approximate 10,000miles that I've driven so far. Petty good in my opinion for a car with 160,000 miles . I assume the previous owner took pretty good care of it, no signs I could find of any mechanical issues, but indications of routine maintenance. If there is any are where I feel it is lacking, it would have to be in the quality of the interior. Was not impressed when the drivers seat cover tore the first evening I owned it. But, it is a 14-year-old-car, so perhaps I expected too much. Not impressed with the seating - hard to find what I consider a comfortable seating position for a long trip, always fiddling with the booster adjustment. May look at adding padding, etc., when I recover the seat. However, will admit to being biased , my previous car was a Chrysler LHS- its seats felt like you were in a comfy recliner.
None to speak of yet, other than five-year-old grandson calls it my Scooby Do. So far he really seems to like it, especially when I put "Paw Patrol " on the stereo head unit I installed on it. Can literally watch that for hours, and with the Bluetooth enabled, he can wear headphones so that it doesn't drive me nuts. Gas mileage, AWD, low maintenance.

Seats and Interior materials . Not amused at having to replace all four tires due to a blowout in one, but that wasn't the car's fault.

2005 Subaru Outback - Subaruuuuuuuu!!!!!!
We've really enjoyed owning this Subaru for the few years we've had it. This car has gotten us through Colorado winters and traveled even more west to the desert in California. We've taken it off road through Utah, and it's climbed some serious mountains. It is such a well-rounded car, and Subaru didn't skimp on the quality. Go all in for the ultimate package—you won't be disappointed.

The most memorable story I have comes from one of our first week owning this car. We were out in the Bookcliff Wild Horse Range in Western Colorado (one of three ranges left in the US for wild horses in their natural habitat). We were on a dirt road by ourselves in the middle of nowhere. The road started to get a little twisty, and all of a sudden, we came up on five horses in the road. They didn't mind us and let us get close to them while they pranced majestically alongside us. It was just like something you would see on TV but in real life!
This car is quiet and is such a smooth drive. Every time you turn in for a corner, the grip is always there with the AWD. The ground clearance is more than you expect. Even in snow and ice, this car outperformed. We passed people with snow chains and other cars equipped for winter like they didn't even know how to drive. Everything about this car has been awesome. Even the service at every dealership we've been to has been five star. Subaru is really a luxury brand but available at an affordable rate.

The dome lights and passenger seat belt sensors are very sensitive and stop working properly frequently. This is an easy fix once you get use to it but a little irritating none the less.
