2006 Ford F-150 - Sturdy truck but noisy
The Ford F-150 is a great medium sized truck for those who want to haul a light/medium load every now and then, or if you have dogs or just like to go out into the dirt roads to go hiking. I've always liked Ford because they have been reliable for me, and this one is no different. I have had few if any problems with the vehicle, with only oil changes and normal maintenance thus far after 170,000 miles. The vehicle is spacious in the front and in the back, offering plenty of leg room. It is also comfortable to sit in for a long period of time. I have taken this truck out on the back roads of Montana many times, and it handles the dips and pot holes very nicely. The one thing I have never liked about Ford is that their vehicles tend to be very loud and they vibrate and shake a lot more t... (more)
Pros
I like the size of the vehicle. It's not too large that you can't get around the small streets in downtown, but it's not so small that it's pointless even having a truck.
Cons
It cannot haul that heavy of a load. It also eats up the gas pretty good.
2005 Ford F-150 - F150 XL 4.6L. Great...for the most part
So I bought the 2005 Ford F-150 Super Cab (the one with the suicide doors in the rear) XL 4.6L 4x4 brand new from the dealer in 2005. I drove it for 150,000 miles with no problems other than replacing the factory Hankook tires (junk by the way) and hadn't modified it at all. It spit out a spark plug at 151k and again at 189k. Bought a tap/insert kit and fixed both problems. Again, no issues other than minor plastic parts becoming brittle from the sun. It's been a great truck for the past 13 years, and now has over 240,000 miles on the odometer. I'd give a 5/5 in reliability if it hadn't left me stranded because of the plugs. It now makes a constant ticking and rattling noise but is still drivable. I've made a whole lot of modifications to it since I bought it. It is one of the more com... (more)
Story
Climbing up a nearly vertical trail in four low without ever worrying about loss of traction. Then using a winch to pull up the three other trucks following because they couldn't make it up on their own.
Pros
Pretty reliable, smooth ride, capable off-road, comfortable front seats, easy to upgrade.
Cons
Aluminum heads caused two spark plugs to blow out over time, has developed a lot of engine noise, steering wheel play has increased, minor plastic pieces sun rot over time.

2013 Ford F-250 Super Duty - Mike Naughton Ford Aurora
This dealership was especially helpful due to their large inventory and also their ability to get almost anything in that you would want. One big perk to them is that due to my high credit score, there were a lot of incentives to buying a new vehicle. Although I initially intended to pay with cash, I received a very large discount to finance some of it. The incentive from this was large enough that I can pay off the financed portion and still come out way ahead.
2007 Ford Mustang - Solon Preowned Colorado Springs
I walked in with a number. I had already gotten a loan from my bank and told them firm 7,000 is all I want to spend. They showed my a few cars and then let me know about a trade in they just got and would let go for my price - 7k. We took a test drive and they filled the tank up for me. I was sold. We walked in and the owner asked if he could get me a better loan, if I would accept. I said sure, but it being from USAA I figured would be hard to beat, but I was wrong. They got me a great one from a local credit union which I later find is easier for me in the long run. I was given GAP options and no bull crap form anyone. I showed up 20 minutes till close and stayed an hour past closed and drove my car home that night. I also got to make a list of thing that I wanted fixed, like interio... (more)
