This vehicle is great as a family vehicle. There is a lot of space in the backseat for kids or young adults to be comfortable. The complete leather interior makes it easier to clean after a toddler or pets. The back seat can fold down in two different segments which helps if you have a full load in the car. The gas mileage is decent for an SUV. Some of the parts are only manufactured by Ford so those repairs can become expensive.
Story
If I take my dogs to the park with my son there is more than enough room for everyone to fit comfortably and have their own section. Mom in the front, kid in the back seat, and dogs in the back.
Pros
It has a larger gas tank than my previous vehicles which is more convenient when driving long distances or waiting to fill up when gas prices are lower. The digital center console is easy to use and gives a better connection and control over the features. Dual settings for air conditioning have reduced arguments in the vehicle. Being able to put the back seats down allows for more storage space. The amount of major repairs in the first 100,000 miles is minimal.
Cons
The roll bar in the car is only reinforced on the drivers side, giving less structural stability to the passenger side. The hapless has tank can wear over time causing a fume leak that will leave your check engine light on. It is a known issue that around 80,000 miles the door what sensor is faulty with the part only being produced as the whole locking mechanism and only carried by Ford resulting in $400-$600 repair per door. It is not 4 wheel drive and does have some issues when driving in icy conditions.

I can fold the back seats and it becomes roomy enough for me to transport two very large Saint Bernards at the same time (they still have extra room to move around, too). Overall it is a nice vehicle but has some things that I did not realize at the time of purchase that are not working for me now.
Story
My Saint Bernard has a very large fluffy head. In summer he placed his head out of one of the vehicle's back windows. I was driving slowly in front of a retail store looking for a parking spot and a guy coming out of the store saw us driving by and he said, "Holy ****!" He was shocked to see such a large (dog) head sticking out of the regular size window.
Pros
I mainly bought it because I needed a larger vehicle than my Ford Escort to transport my pets back and forth from vet visits and hikes up in the mountains. I like the electric windows. I have never had any problems with them. They always worked on command.
Cons
The ledge of the back door is too tall for my dogs to jump in and out from. They need considerable help and they are very heavy dogs. The air conditioning vents are present only in the front for the two passengers. On long summer trips my dogs suffered in the back because there are not vents there. It gets hot in the back even for passengers. It is a gas guzzler! The seats are uncomfortable and there is no way to fix that because the lumbar support is missing/not adjustable. So you sit in them and feel curled up like a fetus! The visibility is poor. It is difficult to see in the ... (more)
