My addiction started out innocently enough. We were drinking, barbecuing and having a good time at a friends when I first learned of "Kermit" my soon to be reason for working. I purchased this baby for $200 with a blown engine, easy enough right? Soon after buying, I had scouted an engine off a rollover, threw it in my other '98 Grand Cherokee, and I was off to the races. This car has a V8 5.2 Liter. It's not the needle in the haystack 5.9, but it was fast enough to dump check. Every mod I made on this thing was easy due to the spacious engine bay. Every thing in the car was a necessity -- no need for fancy stuff. This is a workhorse -- no more no less. I knew what I was getting into. So first things first, I got it running and performed maintenance (which btw is freaking simple, oil/p... (more)
Story
I think the most fun was overtaking everyone on I-70 up to go snowboarding, It was snowing pretty bad and no one was able to keep up with the tires I had. I was sailing through the snow like it was a sunny day. It's the little things like getting me up on the slopes to maximize lift ticket utlilization. I also like racing little sedans. This car was a sleeper until I put the flowmaster 40 on i... (more)
Pros
Easy to work on. No need to raise the vehicle to change oil or access undercarriage. No fancy gizmos. This is back to basics...the way old school cars were. No part on here is expensive with the sole exception of sensors, but that's always a given. There are tons of these things on the road. Break off a side view mirror? Get one dirt cheap at the junk yard. Want to "Pimp Yo Ride"? Everything under the sun can be upgraded.
Cons
Gas mileage. This thing can suck your wallet dry. Do not buy this car if you're a delivery driver -- unless you live in a real remote/snowy/muddy place, you won't even break even. It's very simple, thus it's an easy target for thieves. I have had a stereo stolen and the car stolen -- all with locked doors. I can break into this car and start it in five minutes. Get a car alarm and a steering wheel lock. It's pretty heavy. Pushing this thing alone is a pain. It's no sedan so always enjoy with friends with muscles just in case! The trannys on this model are bad. When it slips, it's time to s... (more)

This is a great riding car and great in the winter. It has a sturdy suspension and automatically switches to four-wheel drive when you need it to grip the road. We bought this car used and have driven it for nearly a year. There have been several significant recalls since we got it, and on top of that, we have spent over $3,000 on repairs already. It feels like we are just waiting for the next thing to break. Jeep has a long history of being a great outdoors car, but this large grocery getter is more like driving a luxury boat. The size makes it difficult to slip into parking spaces and zip around the city. On the highway it feels substantial with a nice sturdy ride. The downside is that it gobbles up the gas. It gets less than 15 MPG. It costs over $50 to fill up the tank at $2.50/gal... (more)
Story
We decided to go off-roading on a snowy winter night. We drove down a dark winding road, slipping along the way. We should have turned around but decided to go on. The road was a narrow two-rut path filled with several inches of show. We were nearly out of gas when we got stuck in a shallow dip in the road. We had to go outside in the snowy weather to find pine branches and whatever we could t... (more)
Pros
Very nice appearance, substantial feel, nice four-wheel drive.
Cons
Poor gas mileage, poor electronics, many failing parts, lots of recalls.

It was a really good experience. I didn't feel at all pressured despite my indecision. At no time did I ever feel like I was being pushed into making a choice or buying a certain vehicle or pressed with anything I didn't need. All the questions I had were answered well without any problems. The associate I dealt with was friendly and knowledgeable and was able to help me make up my mind rather than trying to make it for me. When it came time to close the deal, I felt I was treated fairly and with respect and wasn't ripped off.

It was a painless buying process. We found the Jeep we wanted on a Sunday and went in Monday morning to purchase it. Nice enough people, quick paperwork process, and a wide selection of vehicles.
