I've been beyond satisfied with my vehicle due to the continuous low maintenance I have to tend to. I'm a single female therefore having a reliable mechanic is hard to find so I tend to keep up on what maintenance I can to keep from having hard issues such as oil changes, tire rotation and tune up! And I've been amazed after 4 years I have not have any major mechanical issues with my vehicle. I like that its low maintenance and the overall comfort of the driver side in reference to being able to access/reach everything is great. For it to be a SUV it has a smooth ride and does not feel like a large size SUV and you are all over the road. I recommend this vehicle to mothers vs. mini van because it does have plenty of cargo space and back seat area for kids.
Story
A memorable story I had using my vehicle is when my son little league football team was in a parade. We had arrived early and all the young boys were ready and excited. The coach were going have some of the boys inside his truck and on the back and the remain walk along side the truck. It was a total of 15 boys. Unfortunately the coach was in an accident on the way to the location of the site ... (more)
Pros
I'm a massage therapist and the truck space accommodates my massage table and the other equipment needed for me to be productive. I love it has a sunroof and that the back window of the truck lets all the way up and down. During the summer time, with all the windows down and the breeze flowing through, I feel like I have a convertible. Its the closest I will come to having a convertible because of the safety issue. I enjoy being able to have a overhead storage compartment for my sunglasses and extra storage space on the armrest of the console. My top positive thing about the vehicle is the... (more)
Cons
The negative things about the truck is it does not accommodate larger weight passengers comfortably. Neither the front passenger nor back seat area is suited for a heavier set passenger to ride for periods of time comfortably. I dislike that the vehicle is driver focused. The sound system is specifically design for front seat passenger. Therefore it has to be played larger than normal for back seat passenger. There should be more speakers in the rear area. I dislike it does not have a vent specifically for back seat passenger or a control center for them to adjust themselves. The vents are... (more)

The Toyota 4Runner is a great long-term investment. The truck has exceptional room and is still incredibly reliable to this day. It's just about twenty years old and we have never had a serious issue with it. The engine has always worked flawlessly and the only money we've had to put into it has been normal maintenance/wear and tear costs. The truck is capable of carrying very heavy loads. And with how far it is off the ground you really will feel like a king of the road, which will lead you to feel very safe as well! With a few modifications this truck could be exceptional for mudding and activities like that as well. Christmas trees and other long objects like that can easily fit inside the truck without a need to use the roof rack. The included sunroof is also great for some leisur... (more)
Story
Me and my son were dropping my oldest son back off at the University of Florida, which is in northern Florida, whereas we are very far South. My younger son didn't have much experience driving yet, so on the way back I allowed him to drive most of the way. It was a great learning experience for him and was very fun teaching him how to drive.
Pros
My top five positive things to say about this truck are definitely things that'd make anyone want to buy it. The most important of these five would definitely be that there's never been any performance issues. This truck has always met my expectations and has never broken down or had an issue that a mechanic needed to fix ASAP. My second compliment has to be in regards to the actual size of the truck. It's very large and can accommodate heavy loads, also the backseats fold down for added trunk space. Additionally this truck is very high off the ground. Which I feel like is the 3rd most imp... Cons
Well the interior is very old and falling apart. Of course this is normal, but it's actually very ugly even in new condition. The console area also doesn't allow for much storage and is actually very cramped. The seats can feel very awkward at times as well, but this is of course still an interior issue. The truck's maintenance costs are fairly high, and since it is so old it requires them fairly often. All in all this isn't a very serious issue, but it's a problem regardless. One of the major issues however, is how often the truck will hydroplane in wet conditions. It's happened to me fai... (more)

I like that my vehicle is spacious enough for my family. The rear cargo area is really big for my shopping days. The seats are comfy. The rear (power) glass window goes up and down, which is very convenient for me to use for work or shopping. Most SUVs on the market don't have an option for the rear glass window to go up and down. The rear seats are collapsible. The SUV is a 4WD and has some power to do what I like to do on my free time, which is go off-roading. The SUV is easy to get in and out of no matter how (big) you are. There's no really bad blind spots as you operate the vehicle. The transmission is a lot stronger than some other gens. of the 4Runner. The bumpers are full chrome metal bumpers that most vehicle nowadays don't have, and that is made with plastic and hard foam. Th... (more)
Story
That my boyfriend and I got to fully load the SUV to the fullest with our fishing gear and took the 4Runner off-roading to get to a fishing spot, and we had a blast. It was an awesome scenic fishing trip to remember.
Pros
The vehicle was some what in my budget, at first. The reliability of the vehicle after proper maintenance is awesome. The transmission just keeps on going even though the mileage is well over 150,000 miles. The engine is strong and had enough power to haul some heavy objects. The parts are in high demand in Hawaii where I reside in, so it's easy to get any part for my vehicle when it breaks. Because my 4Runner in Hawaii is in high demand, the resale value for my vehicle will always be up there. Hawaii prices on 1990s gen. Toyota pickups and SUVs are all overpriced compared to the mainland ... (more)
Cons
The most number one common flaw with my year gen 4Runner is the paint on the hood and roof is the biggest problem. The paint is faded, and the clear coat is still coming off. The vehicle is automatic 4wd but not as good as the real 4wd standard manual SUVs. You can also feel the heat coming from the carpet from the trans tunnel, so it feels like a sauna for your feet and legs. The vehicles horn sounds like a kid's toy car horn, very soft and high pitched. Coils springs always go bad in most on the Toyota pickups and SUVs, where the ass end of the vehicle sags lower than the front end of th... (more)
