The Toyota 4Runner is a great long-term investment. The truck has exceptional room and is still incredibly reliable to this day. It's just about twenty years old and we have never had a serious issue with it. The engine has always worked flawlessly and the only money we've had to put into it has been normal maintenance/wear and tear costs. The truck is capable of carrying very heavy loads. And with how far it is off the ground you really will feel like a king of the road, which will lead you to feel very safe as well! With a few modifications this truck could be exceptional for mudding and activities like that as well. Christmas trees and other long objects like that can easily fit inside the truck without a need to use the roof rack. The included sunroof is also great for some leisur... (more)
Story
Me and my son were dropping my oldest son back off at the University of Florida, which is in northern Florida, whereas we are very far South. My younger son didn't have much experience driving yet, so on the way back I allowed him to drive most of the way. It was a great learning experience for him and was very fun teaching him how to drive.
Pros
My top five positive things to say about this truck are definitely things that'd make anyone want to buy it. The most important of these five would definitely be that there's never been any performance issues. This truck has always met my expectations and has never broken down or had an issue that a mechanic needed to fix ASAP. My second compliment has to be in regards to the actual size of the truck. It's very large and can accommodate heavy loads, also the backseats fold down for added trunk space. Additionally this truck is very high off the ground. Which I feel like is the 3rd most imp... Cons
Well the interior is very old and falling apart. Of course this is normal, but it's actually very ugly even in new condition. The console area also doesn't allow for much storage and is actually very cramped. The seats can feel very awkward at times as well, but this is of course still an interior issue. The truck's maintenance costs are fairly high, and since it is so old it requires them fairly often. All in all this isn't a very serious issue, but it's a problem regardless. One of the major issues however, is how often the truck will hydroplane in wet conditions. It's happened to me fai... (more)

1995 Toyota 4Runner- I have a love hate relationship with my vehicle. The primary I reason I bought it was due to the fact that to get to my parents' house, I needed a 4x4 since their road isn't passable without one. I chose Toyota for their reputable name and high quality vehicles that last a life time if well taken care of. The 4Runner was more so in my price range. The 4x4 in this truck is absolutely amazing. It handles muddy, rocky, 4000 ft altitude in the mountains like an absolute breeze. I have never gotten "stuck" in my 4runner like so many people have with other vehicles. It has the perfect amount of lift and strength. The body, though long, for me, turns on a dime. Pulling in to a small garage or tight spaces is still fairly easy since it is much narrower than many other Toy... (more)
Story
Many good times, enjoying the sunshine through the sunroof, blasting the music, wind blowing through me and my kids' hair. This is our favorite road trip truck to the beach and to the mountains. We take it to all the fun places our sedan can't go!
Pros
This vehicle can tackle the mountain and 4x4 tough terrain NO problems. It is a smooth ride, comfortable interior, safe and always reliable vehicle. Has a great turning radius for such a long truck. It is just the right height, not to tall and not too short.
Cons
The gas mileage. This vehicle performs the way you expect, but it will cost you. Also, some minor things like the back windshield wiper and some cosmetic exterior things are starting to fall off, but expected with it's age.
