Older beat up car, but has a strong heart on it so far.
Well, I originally bought this car used at a used car dealership. I made the mistake of not inspecting it all over. Turns out it had hidden defects and the dealership had tried to dump a total lemon on me. I had some auto knowledge and was able to help my stepfather repair one of the issues, which included a bad starter and battery. I liked how well it runs with the miles it has on it, but I don't like the slightly bumpy ride it has (has worn out shocks on it currently). For the price, it's very slowly starting to pay for itself back. It's a great project car, which is another thing I like about it. It has parts that are easy to find. With it being a 1995, it's also an OBDI-car and is not required to have a passing check engine light for inspection in my state. Another thing I like about this car is the fact that, with it being a well used car, a lot of the electric options still work on it. It even still has ice cold air conditioning. It might be beat up, but I think it's got a lot of life left into it.

The best hunk of metal I've owned.
I purchased my 1995 Toyota Avalon from a friend of the family. He had owned the car since the day he drove it off the lot in 1996. The maintenance of the vehicle was in a decent condition, running-wise. The car, when purchased, was already 13 years old. The body is solid and heavy. With no interest in repainting, the finish is now dull and chipping away. The interior has dried and has began to crumble away. Replacing parts for this vehicle was easy, as it is an older car and pretty common to find reasonable prices on parts through junk yards. Though, some were ridiculously priced for the year of the car, which inevitably lead to us not being able to keep up with it. Though it already had 200,000 miles on it when I bought it, we still drove up and down the east coast and is very reliable. The A/C no longer works, as it seems there is now some sort of electrical issues. The car is huge! Not only can we fit two bikes in the trunk, but the interior is ultra spacious.

Reliable
I bought my car used, and planned to drive it until it died. I have now owned it for 13 years, and it's still humming along. Granted it has some glitches now and again due to its age, but it has really been a dependable, reliable car. It has nice pick-up and "zip" and gets decent gas mileage. I would recommend this car to anyone who commutes over long distances, as it's extremely comfortable to ride in. It's also big enough for my 6'3" husband to ride in comfortably. Plenty of trunk space for at least 4 full-sized suitcases, and we were able to strap a car seat in the back with no problems. It has a headlight cut-off so that you don't accidentally leave your headlights on when exiting the car. That has saved me on more than one occasion. The car stereo that comes with the car left a little to be desired, since it was an older car. Installing a new one ourselves was not a big problem. We were also able to fix a problem with the headlight relay ourselves. The inside of the car is set up very logically and nothing seems to be really out of reach as far as do-it-yourself repair goes.
