My vehicle has lasted me almost 17 years. I am so happy with this vehicle. It's been passed down to me from my mom who bought it brand new when I was a baby. It has had minimal repairs other than basic maintenance. Not many people can say they've had the same vehicle for 17 years. I love how roomy it is, I love the 4WD. It still runs like a champ. It has some get up and go. It does have a hemi and it's still running smooth.
Story
There was these train tracks near my friends house, that is a pretty steep bump. Well, I was just borrowing my moms Durango during that time, and my friend and I decided to floor it over the tracks. We flew so high! Nothing damaged the vehicle thankfully. It was a thrill.
Pros
It still runs. I love the cruise controls on the steering wheel. The back seats fold down so it's easy to haul around big objects.
Cons
It's rusting, but really, any vehicle in ND/MN weather this old will rust. Otherwise, this vehicle is literally perfect condition.

I am very fond of Dodge vehicles, so I was not surprised at all that I fell in love with the Dodge Durango. I have driven my Durango all over Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. I have had absolutely no problems. I currently have 189,000+ miles on my Durango and it still running strong. I did have an issue with water getting down into the vehicle because the window cowling on the front windshield was a poor design, but replaced it and haven't had any more problems with water. I have had to replace the battery and a couple of sensors over the years, but I really have not had any kind of major issues with my vehicle. I am getting a little nervous about the amount of miles that I have on my Durango, but so far it has shown no signs o... (more)
Story
One day I was considering getting a smaller vehicle because my kids are teenagers and they are starting to do their own things. I picked my kids up that day from school and each one of them brought another kid with them one after another. So, by the end of it all, I was counting the kids and counting the seats in my Durango to see if we would all fit. There were exactly 7 of us and exactly 7 s... (more)
Pros
It is comfortable and easy to drive. I have been in a fairly major accident in mine when a lady hit me without even trying to slow down from behind. My kids and I were all fine other than having whiplash. The woman's car was totaled. You could barely even tell until you looked under the bumper that my car had been hit. There is a lot of room to haul around many different people and luggage. It works well to tow campers with.
Cons
Gas mileage is not the best, but it is a beast of a vehicle so I think that is expected. The original cowling was poorly designed.

2001 Dodge Durango - Very reliable SUV that can go the distance you need it to.

I have owned my 2001 Dodge Durango for 4 years now It had 102,000 miles on it and I purchased it for $2500. It now has 165,000 miles on it. I originally purchased this SUV in New Hampshire and it has had quite a bit of rusting because of the original location. Regardless of the rusting this truck has been through work commuting 60 miles a day and two road trips (total of 2500 miles put together) This may sound terrible to the average car owner but I have had times when I just have neglected to do an oil change for this SUV, I think I'm at 11 months now since the last one and it still runs great. It is very reliable and a work horse when you need it to be. When I moved to south Carolina with this SUV I towed a U-Haul trailer all the way from NH to here without an issue. I highly recomme... Story
My 2 road trips from NH to SC were very fun and memorable. The most memorable part was getting detoured off the highway into NY city at 1am with the uhaul trailer on. We got stuck in the city for 2 hours. Having the trailer on this SUV made it a nightmare at times. But luckily the truck is very comfortable so we made it through without getting too frustrated and we can laugh about it now.
Pros
Large V8 (5.7 Liter) Engine Can tow 1,000 lbs in a trailer easily. Air Conditioning could freeze you out in the middle of July and heating could melt you in January. Despite neglect of maintenance, still remains reliable. In my opinion it has a very smooth ride for an SUV. Seat are quite comfortable
Cons
Lots of nooks and crannies to start rust locations especially if you live in northern states. Gas mileage is not ideal (17 mpg average highway) My wife took a while getting used to the size of this SUV. It is quite large. Not a con for me, but it was for her and could easily be for others. Blower fan for heating and cooling has a small inexpensive coil that will blow easily if its the stock one.

They were really flexible on the price and they allowed us to view the car in their bay before it hit the floor. Needless to say we test drove it, negotiated and drove it home that night. Could have done without the hours being there but Mr. Guerrera took care of us.

I had a good experience as it was a family place. A young guy helped me and I got a discount buying two cars. It is now two years later and no problems. Used cars 8 years old.
