I bought my Hyundai Elantra at a time when there was a glut of these foreign-made cars on the market, so the car dealership in our area had the car for 14 thousand dollars. I liked that the car was small, which makes it easier to fit into the parking spaces around my condo. In fact it's much easier to park than even a medium size car. I was careful to follow the directions regarding not driving over a certain mile-per-hour speed when I first got the car, and the recommendation was viable until 1000 miles, I believe it was. This car was purported to get good gas mileage, and I agree that I spend less money on fuel than I used to. I like that it has a good radio. I don't like that the trunk handle--being plastic--broke off. So I can't open the trunk when I'm inside the car. And the light... (more)
Story
Mine was about wrecking the vehicle. I rode it into the guard rail coming off a cloverleaf a few years back, and even though I wasn't going that fast, the car was riddled on the driver's side by the metal almost the entire length of the car.
Pros
Price was right, good gas mileage, easy to park and handles easily, visors that rotate to side window if desired, good radio, visors that rotates, car handles nicely.
Cons
Plastic trunk handle broke off. Lights and windows fog up for no apparent reasons. Passenger side window falls into the slot, even after having it fixed.

2013 Hyundai Elantra - Decent car, would like some minor changes.

The car itself drives beautifully. It's a nice steady ride, and it's a 6 speed manual transmission which is great. It's fairly simple to operate in terms of it's internals as well. No real fancy radio, no blue tooth, nothing crazy. The car ride itself, like I stated, is beautiful. It's smooth, without much noise. I can have the radio at close to the lowest setting and still hear everything. In the 2 years I've had the car, I haven't needed any major repairs on it either. The only thing I would really change is the fabric seat color is tan in color, which gets very visibly dirty. It's actually somewhat hard to clean as well. I also wish that it had a larger trunk, such as a hatchback style instead.
Story
It's been a good car all around. I've taken it too a place called Hoagie Haven in Princeton many times. It's a hoagie joint that does fat sandwiches. Nothing is quite like eating a sandwich with chicken fingers, fries and mozz. Sticks on the roll while in your car listening to some classic rock and blasting either the A/C or the heat depending on if it is winter or summer.
Pros
Some positives about the car. It's great with fuel economy. I drive in heavy traffic everyday and still manage around 34 mpg, which is outstanding compared to what I used to have. It's a great size, not too large or small. It picks up fast as well. The acceleration of it is fantastic for a family style car. In the 40,000 miles I've put on it since owning it, there have been no major repairs needed, which all things considered is a big plus. The interior is comfortable, with just enough room. You can seat five people quite comfortably in there. It has a great sound system for being the gene... (more)
Cons
I would really have preferred a slightly different seat color. The lighter tan gets dirty very fast, and unfortunately is not very easy to clean. The vent locations for the A/C is a bit of an odd placement. It is stuck right behind the steering wheel so a lot of the airflow actually gets disrupted by that, which is unfortunately. The truck space is also somewhat limited. If it was a hatchback, I believe I would have even better thoughts about the car. And finally, the only other real negative thing is that instead of being an all-wheel-drive vehicle, it's only front wheel. However, that do... (more)
