Honda Civic Owner Ratings & Reviews

2011 Honda Civic - Good as advertised.
My 2011 Honda Civic is the best car I have ever owned. I purchased it August of 2014 and it has been a reliable and fun vehicle to drive. I was initially looking for a car to give me better gas mileage than my previous vehicle, a Hyundai Sonata V6, due to the majority of my driving being done in a city setting. I was also looking for a smaller vehicle to help in finding parking both at home and around town. My initial concern about the Civic was that it might be to small for a man my size (6'2"). However, after speaking with a co-worker who has owned 3 civics and was equal to me in size and after sitting in the driver seat of his Civic my fear dissipated. Initially there was an adjustment period between my Sonata and Civic in terms of acceleration but after a while this became a non-is... (more)
Story
Don't really have a single story but as an Uber driver my Civic has been great at maneuvering around traffic and squeezing down the narrow streets and alleys around town.
Pros
I bought my Civic in the hopes of getting a reliable vehicle that got great gas mileage. The first thing I noticed was how much smaller the gas tank was compared to my Sonata. Initially I felt like I was refueling more frequently but I was spending less during each stop. I also determined that my mpg for city driving was much better than Sonata, increasing by roughly 7 mpg from 16 to 23 along with better fuel economy on the highway where I see that I'm achieving more than 34mpg. The smaller size of the Civic also made it easier to finding parking at my previous residence that required I pa... (more)
Cons
The paint finish on my Civic is probably my least favorite/annoying feature of my vehicle. Every time I take it through a car wash I discover some kind of new scratch or abrasion on the finish. I eventually learned that Honda using a much thinner topcoat than other brands and this results in other drivers seeing the same scratches I have. The 2nd least favorite aspect of my Civic was the air conditioner. My previous car had a great A/C system but I found the Civics to be both slow and weak. At times it felt like it only worked while the car was actually moving and while it was idling at a ... (more)
2010 Honda Civic - This car takes some abuse.
They say that Honda's run forever, and honestly, as long as you maintain them the way that you're supposed to, I can see it happening. My Honda is a work horse. I'm a social worker, and I drive a lot for work. I'm constantly driving on new roads, going places that I've never been, so as you can imagine, sometimes it's hard on the car. But my old girl has been reliable ever since I got her. Never stranded me anyplace. It's really important because in my line of work. I might have a child with me who needs to be someplace, and I can't be taking a bus.
Story
I got it stuck in the mud at one of my client's house, and we had to call a tow truck to get me out, so embarrassing.
Pros
The way it rides is really nice. Not the nicest I've ever had, but compared to other cars. The sound system is pretty good as well, I can't complain. It has enough get up and go, but not too much to where it's going to be a gas hog. I feel like it's easy to drive and visibility is good. It also has a fair amount of room, and If you need a little bit more, the back seats also fold down (this has came in very handy a few times). Most of the parts that I've had to replace, windshield wipers, brakes, tires etc. Really haven't been that expensive, which I assume is because it was mass produced.
Cons
My paint isn't looking so great, I'm sure that if I would have detailed it and waxed it more often it would have probably held up a little bit better, but I thought it would last longer than it is. The headlights are outdated and not very bright in comparison to newer cars, they've also got a foggy look to them. I'm not sure if they can be fixed. As the car gets older, it feels like the ride is a little bit rougher. However, it may also just be that shocks or struts need to be replaced. Occasionally the air conditioner smells weird when I'm driving in the rain also.
