Overall, I really like this vehicle. There's just a few issues that have bothered me; but overall, I am happy with it. It does get great gas mileage, around 30-35 miles per gallon. I am a commuter, so it does good in saving me money in that aspect. On the downside, it has really, really bad idle, and it is especially pronounced when the air conditioner is on. There's also been some issues with the engine light turning on while the eco button has been on for several days, as well as for problems with the air/gas pumps.
Story
I took this car driving down the strand on San Diego beaches, with the windows down, going five miles per hour. It was great, and the car is very casual for something like this.
Pros
This vehicle gets great gas mileage. It has a very sporty look and with a little customizing really looks sharp. The headlights are very sporty and give the car an expensive look. The car has a decent amount of room and can fit five people total. I even take my son and my husky in the backseat, and they fit just fine with plenty of room to spare.
Cons
After having the car a year or so (we have extremely hot summers where I live, up into the 100s), the car started shaking every time I turn on the air conditioner. It feels like really bad idle. After another year or so, the car just has bad idle all the time now. I've had it taken in and the dealers have said that's just how this car is. Sometimes I worry the car will just shut off, it shakes so hard. In the last year now, I've gotten a check engine light twice that came back as an unequal fuel to air ratio but also cannot find the cause. So there's some issues that do really worry me, an... My white Hyundai Elantra is the first car I've paid for mostly myself. There are extreme feelings of pride and responsibility associated with this vehicle. On the outside it's compact enough to fit in the small parking spaces, but on the inside it doesn't feel compact. There's plenty of space in the front for the driver and passenger, and there's plenty of space in the back seat! When I fold down both of the back seats I can fit just about anything in there. As a teacher it is extremely necessary for me to have space in my vehicle. Not only do I need space to carry all of my papers and teachery things home, but I need space to load up all the cool things I find to take to work. Freecycle is a teacher's dream, and my car needs to be big enough to support that dream. It gets great gas mi... (more)
Story
I recently went on a trip with my roommate and boyfriend to Bodega Bay. I volunteered my car because it gets the best gas mileage and I knew we'd all fit. It was nice to have a relaxing trip with the people I care about and not have to worry about the car breaking down or not making it.
Pros
I love the size and the gas mileage the most. I love the seat warmers that are in the front seats, and I love that both of the back seats fold down to create a larger space. The compact size makes it easy to park and maneuver.
Cons
I prefer larger vehicles because I like to be above the other cars and I like to have a lot of space, so the fact that it is a sedan is a negative to me. It does have an eco button, but I would probably love the car more if it was a hybrid.

When I needed to purchase my new car, for religious reasons I could not pay interest. I went into the dealership on the basis that I had dealt with a sales woman over the phone and her manager and they said I and my husband qualified for 0% APR. We went down there and lo and behold after choosing a vehicle they decided to tell us we do not qualify for 0%. So we walked out. 30 minutes later they called me and said they can do the 0%. So we went back down to the car lot and because of all the trouble they caused us we walked out of the lot with a new car, no down payment, no interest, special offers included in the prices, and best of all, no income verification. It was a miracle! I do recommend them although I believe they lied to me to get me in their initially, they did make it right.... (more)
