I'm very happy with this car. I just passed 150,000 miles (in 8 years), and it's as reliable as ever. It did recently start making a little bit of noise, but apparently, that's normal aging -- I had it checked out, and everything is fine. I still expect to use this car for years to come. It's comfortable to drive. Since I'm just 5'6", I usually find cars uncomfortable (distance to reach both the steering wheel/pedals is awkward) and hard to see out of, but I don't have those problems with the Sonata. My husband, 6', also finds it comfortable to drive. The car handles/maneuvers well and has ample space in the back for car seats. We currently have two large convertible car seats in the back, and we can still fit a third person in between them if necessary (a very tight squeeze, but doabl... (more)
Story
My favorite memory in the car is driving the kids to Disneyland for their first trip there.
Pros
My favorite aspects of this car are the great gas mileage (~28mpg), smooth handling, safety record, reliability, visibility, and comfort. It looks nice, too! Oh, and the A/C works really well.
Cons
If it doesn't make it past 200,000 miles, I will be sorely disappointed, especially because I keep on top of maintenance. But at this point, it's holding strong. I suppose one thing I'd like, which this car lacks, is A/C vents in the back. With kids in rear facing car seats, the back of the car gets insufferably hot during the summer.

The 2011 Sonata has been a very reliable and dependable vehicle. It was one of the vehicles to adopt the new liquid metal styling that has sweeping lines that make the car appear sleek. As far as reliability goes, after owning it for five years and driving about 8,000 miles annually, with regular maintenance, there has been no significant mechanical issues aside from having to replace the battery twice.
Story
I was so tired one day when parking the car that I hit the front of the car against the wall (at a very slow speed). Luckily there was almost zero damage to the front bumper.
Pros
It comes with the basic minimum necessities but leaves much to be desired. It has built-in XM satellite radio so if you purchase a subscription, you will be able to use it. It has Bluetooth built-in so you can play music and use your phone, and it will be helpful for navigation. Additionally it has a USB port, so you can plug a USB drive with music and play from there. The music is organized by folders on your USB drive. Convenient controls are on the steering wheel itself. The rear-view mirror and left side view mirror help with visibility at night. The side view mirrors are also heated. ... (more)
Cons
The gas mileage is moderate. It performs best on the highway but, in the city, it may drop to the low to mid 20 mpg. The acceleration is somewhat slow, and the car is quite long/large.
