Jeep Commander Owner Ratings & Reviews

2006 Jeep Commander - My 2006 Jeep Commander is AWESOME!
I bought my 2006 Jeep Commander, used, about 2 years ago. The Commander has a solid build to it, no rattles, jingles or jangles. The 7 passenger seating is great for the size of my family and got me out of buying the "Dad Van". The features that came with the car (electric windows, sunroof, heated seats and heated mirrors) have never failed me and have actually worked really well. There is no better feeling in the world then hopping in your vehicle in the dead of winter and having your seats warmed up in a very fast manner. One negative item with the vehicle is the shifter. My Commander is an automatic, but soon after I purchased the vehicle I ran into an issue with the shifter not making contact to the circuit board it's connected to underneath. After checking out the Jeep message boa... (more)
Story
We drove the Jeep Commander from Detroit, MI to Orlando, FL to take the family to Disney World. With the 7 person seating we had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the ride. I thought taking that long of a drive with 3 kids would be miserable, but it was actually a really good time.
Pros
The 7 person seating is the most positive aspect of the vehicle for me. I needed a car that would fit my whole family, but didn't want to buy a van. The heated seats are also a nice feature I never thought I'd want in a vehicle. Now that I've had them, I'd really hate to lose them.
Cons
The issue I had with the shifter not making it's connections with the circuit board was a big problem for me. I didn't like having to fix that, especially after finding out it's a known issue and no recall had been made.
2007 Jeep Commander - It is pretty inside and out however there is a few to many mechanical flaws with this model.
The outside of the vehicle is very nicely built and is of a decent size. The inside if especially nice because of the room it has in each row. It is a decent size, not to large but not to small.
Story
One of my favorite memories of this vehicle is the day I purchased it. Me and my family really enjoyed the trip to get it and most of all the trip driving it home.
Pros
One thing I really like about the Jeep Commander is the backup feature it has. When backing up if you get to close something there is a beeper than will sound to let you know you are to close. I also like the three rows of seat and in the third row there is a air/heating controls.
Cons
There has been many recalls on this make/model. I have been driving down the road the car just cuts off. I have had the wheels lock up on me as I was backing down steep hill, which has to be the worst. I also don't like only getting 15 miles per gallon.
2006 Jeep Commander - Great family SUV
My Jeep commander has been my most favorite vehicle by far! I think it has a great build quality. It is very sturdy and has 4x4 drive. It is not shaky, and it drives smooth. The inside seats have very nice leather material. It has a nice sound system and a built-in DVD player. It has a large touchscreen radio that is compatible with XM radio, everything is electronic. It is a very reliable car. We have not had any problems. I would purchase this vehicle again. It has a third-row seat that goes up or down, which is great for a family with young kids. I got liners for all of the floors, so that it is easy cleanup when water or sand gets in there. Gas mileage is not great, but it is what you would expect for a big 4x4, eight-cylinder hemi SUV. ItÕs a very comfortable car. I ride in it wit... (more)
