I bought my 2006 Jeep Commander, used, about 2 years ago. The Commander has a solid build to it, no rattles, jingles or jangles. The 7 passenger seating is great for the size of my family and got me out of buying the "Dad Van". The features that came with the car (electric windows, sunroof, heated seats and heated mirrors) have never failed me and have actually worked really well. There is no better feeling in the world then hopping in your vehicle in the dead of winter and having your seats warmed up in a very fast manner. One negative item with the vehicle is the shifter. My Commander is an automatic, but soon after I purchased the vehicle I ran into an issue with the shifter not making contact to the circuit board it's connected to underneath. Story
We drove the Jeep Commander from Detroit, MI to Orlando, FL to take the family to Disney World. With the 7 person seating we had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the ride. I thought taking that long of a drive with 3 kids would be miserable, but it was actually a really good time.
Pros
The 7 person seating is the most positive aspect of the vehicle for me. I needed a car that would fit my whole family, but didn't want to buy a van. The heated seats are also a nice feature I never thought I'd want in a vehicle. Now that I've had them, I'd really hate to lose them.
Cons
The issue I had with the shifter not making it's connections with the circuit board was a big problem for me. I didn't like having to fix that, especially after finding out it's a known issue and no recall had been made.

2007 Jeep Commander - It is pretty inside and out however there is a few to many mechanical flaws with this model.

The outside of the vehicle is very nicely built and is of a decent size. The inside if especially nice because of the room it has in each row. It is a decent size, not to large but not to small.
Story
One of my favorite memories of this vehicle is the day I purchased it. Me and my family really enjoyed the trip to get it and most of all the trip driving it home.
Pros
One thing I really like about the Jeep Commander is the backup feature it has. When backing up if you get to close something there is a beeper than will sound to let you know you are to close. I also like the three rows of seat and in the third row there is a air/heating controls.
Cons
There has been many recalls on this make/model. I have been driving down the road the car just cuts off. I have had the wheels lock up on me as I was backing down steep hill, which has to be the worst. I also don't like only getting 15 miles per gallon.

The Jeep Commander was a good idea, but I feel like it tried to fill to many niches. It tried to be a large SUV like a Suburban but the third row is practically useless (I folded it down when I bought it and have never used it since). Also, it is rather noisy, has middling acceleration, and obviously poor gas mileage. All in all, however, I have been happy with the vehicle.
Story
I drove into the city almost every day. I took the freeway. The car didn't accelerate very well, but it could go. I had a lot of fun opening it up on the freeway.
Pros
It is comfortable to drive, sits very high off the road, handles well and overall is a good vehicle. I have owned it for seven years and have had very little problems with it. It has one of the most comfortable driver's seats of any car I have ever owned, which makes it great for long drives except for the gas mileage. Also, it feels very solid, there aren't any cheap flimsy parts on it. It looks like a tank and it feels like a tank!
Cons
The short windshield makes it difficult to see traffic lights when you are the first car in line. The third row seat, which was the 'signature' feature of the Commander is practically useless. It is very hard to get in, has zero leg room, and because it has 'theater' seating, it completely blocks the back window if someone over two feet is sitting back there.
