This jeep we bought 4 years ago. I was extremely nervous about buying a car this old. My husband insisted though that we had to have 4 wheel drive and that jeeps maintain their value. So we settled on this Jeep grand Cherokee. I am so glad we did. This car has been a beast. The car runs well. Gets us to and from and I am so glad we bought it. The car is amazing in snow and is very reliable.
Story
This jeep was the first car we bought before we had our son. So it holds sentimental value to me also as my son came home from the hospital in this car.
Pros
The main benefit of this car is the four wheel drive, it works like a charm since we get a ton of snow where we live. That alone has probably saved us tons of money, being able to get back and forth to work even in bad weather means we never have to lose hours. The maintenance this car has needed has also been minimal. I was very impressed to be going on year 5 with out too much work needing to be put into this thing.
Cons
The flaws with this car is that it is an SUV which means it is a gas sucker, I get 14 miles to the gallon & that's ineffective. The other real flaw we have noticed is that the battery on this thing has a constant draw so every year or two we are replacing that. We did get around that though by purchasing a new one with a 5 year warranty 2 years ago. Now we just swap it out until the warranty is up.

I love the power of this vehicle's v8 engine. I love the look of the vehicle - not too sleek, but not boxy. It drives pretty smoothly. It has held up well for being 15 years old. The fuel economy probably wasn't horrible at the time it was made, but 17 miles per gallon isn't very good in comparison with new cars. It's possible to fit a lot inside of the vehicle, and the vehicle itself is very versatile.
Story
New Hampshire winters and rear wheel drive vehicles don't normally get along very well, but we've had some good times getting the Jeep unstuck from snow and ice. The car does its best and fares the winters pretty well, all things considered.
Pros
The car is still running after almost 200,000 miles. I love the extra features such as the built in radio buttons on the steering wheel. The V8 gives it a lot of power.
Cons
The gas mileage is not great - it gets about 17 miles per gallon. There have been a lot of electrical issues with the car, including but not limited to the brake lights, the tail lights, and a window motor. Although the car is an automatic, sometimes you have to take your foot off the gas to let it shift like you would with a manual. My model doesn't have 4wheel drive, which is very unfortunate. Mine also burns oil at a ridiculous rate. The plastic headlights have faded in the sun significantly, so I would like to see a better quality plastic used so the headlights don't dim over the years.

My wife and I recently purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee and it was a great decision! It is a great looking SUV with exceptional performance and comfort inside. I would put it up against any luxury SUV on the market in terms of comfort and ride.
Story
We drove the Jeep and lots of supplies to our cabin for 4th of July. We got pretty good gas mileage and carried a lot of gear up into the mountains for the weekend in style and comfort.
Pros
Style - This is a great looking SUV that will turn heads. Ride - For a large SUV, it handles very well and the ride is very smooth. Full time all wheel drive helps provide stability when the weather is poor. Comfort - The leather seats are very comfortable and the interior cools off very quickly when the A/C is on full blast (very important here in Arizona.) Gas Mileage - For a large SUV this does pretty well on gas. Our average so far is about 23 mpg. Even driving up into the mountains we averaged just below 22 mpg.
Cons
The A-pillar can be hard to see around at times. The blind spots are fairly large so you always have to check twice when changing lanes. The gear shifter can be finicky. There actually is a recall out on the vehicle due to this issue. It's not a huge problem you just have to make sure you have it in Park before you get out of the car.
