2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Good Vehicle
It drives great in snowy weather. It has a lot of room. Hauls things well. It has over 105k miles on it and still runs good. Still looks good.

Great in snowy weather. Lots of room. Pretty interior and exterior. Good size, just big enough, not too big.

We have had the gear shift replaced twice, at $1600 each time. We also have an issue with the air conditioner now. All repairs have been expensive.

2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee -
My vehicle has performed beyond my expectations with power, reliability, and great performance. This is my first experience with an 8-cylinder vehicle and I especially enjoy having the power to pass, even on steep hills. And I feel safe because of its power and its 4-wheel drive capability. I have taken this vehicle on mountain roads I would never have attempted with any of my earlier vehicles. Gas mileage is about average for an SUV this size, ranging 18-20 miles per gallon, and I consistently use the highest octane available. I hope this choice will lengthen the life of the vehicle's engine and give me optimum mileage in the long run. I have responded to the manufacturer's recall notice regarding the ignition switch, which reportedly could be accidentally turned off by bumping ... (more)

I have responded to the manufacturer's recall notice regarding the ignition switch, which reportedly could be accidentally turned off by bumping it thus rendering the power steering and power brakes inoperable as well as disabling the airbags. Passenger seating is great, allowing my family of five to ride comfortably with ample safety restraints. Rear seat air conditioning is well located and easily adjusted by rear seat passengers. The sound system is good, given the age of the vehicle, and even pleases my 15-year-old granddaughter who is obsessed with music and its quality.
I recently drove to a friends home several hundred miles away. My friend is about my age (grandmother) and drives a medium sized sedan. (We also assembled the swing set).
My very favorite thing about this vehicle has to be its power; when I need this vehicle to move, it really moves. I routinely travel routes that have steep mountainous inclines and many, many semi trucks. Being able to pass quickly and return to my own lane is awesome. I also enjoy the cargo space which is ample and easily accessed. I haul not only suitcases and the normal things one would expect on family outings, but I also haul lumber, concrete, and other building supplies for my do-it-yourself home projects. One of my most usual loads is 8-foot 2 by 4's which fit nicely when the rear seat is lowered, particularly since the space between the driver and passenger's seats is wide enough to allow lumber to be angled onto the floor on the passenger side. This way I can drive safely without the longer pieces sliding to and fro. By protecting the cargo area with a heavy tarp I can also haul rocks from neighboring hillsides which I have used extensively in my landscaping.
My experience with the manufacturer's recall was lengthy and difficult, as I had to wait several weeks for service. The new switch that was installed as a result of the recall is easy to turn to start the vehicle, but quite difficult to turn off. It requires pushing the key inward while turning the switch left to its off position, but is hard to turn. I sometimes accidentally activate the panic button on the key fob. Also, the transparent coverings on the headlights cloud and are hard to clean. The jack that came with the vehicle is quite difficult to access and not user friendly. I ... (more)

I replaced it with a jack I purchased separately at a local discount store. The floor mats in the front of the vehicle have small hooks to hold them in place, but seem to come loose and slip about, sometimes moving under the gas and brake controls. The only other negative aspect of this vehicle that comes to mind, is the rear hatch door which doesn't always stay open. It sometimes moves downward while I am still loading articles into the cargo space, and is particularly annoying in wet weather.
