I loved my 99' Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. It was a very clean Jeep and I love how the bottom trim which was a plastic material helped cut in the body details of the Jeep. It was a bright Fire hydrant red and the plastic trim along the bottom was black before the color started to fade. It was dependable and the engine had a 186,000 miles on it before I sold it. I changed the oil regularly which I think helped make the engine last so long but the engine never made noise it was dependable.
Story
Crawling the creeks looking for good spots to swim and camp for the night.
Pros
It was a very well built Jeep, It was nice looking plus it definitely got you from point a to b and in style. It has a luggage rack which is great for camping or whatever else your packing around. It had plenty of room in the back to where you could fit probably 4 people back there. It was very roomy and comfortable.
Cons
Nothing in particular comes to mind it was a good vehicle. I did have to get a new a radiator once. My o2 sensor went out also which made it you so much gas until it was fixed. The passenger side door window stopped working, not sure if it was wiring or the motor it used.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Great Car, but Gets Expensive

This car has been great in terms of being a vehicle that gets you where you need to go without much hassle. It has a very good turning radius, is very sturdy and stable, handles accelerated turns well, and is overall a comfortable and functional car. However, being as it is a '99, it is now getting quite old and is acting up a decent amount. For example, the key occasionally gets stuck in the cylinder; the car sometimes will accelerate too quickly for the amount that the gas pedal is pressed; the rear gears grind whenever one is not pressing the gas pedal (a $1200 fix); for awhile the AC didn't work too well, etc. Because of these kinks (I call them kinks because the car is still quite drivable) if I were to completely service the car and fix everything completely, it would cost about ... Story
Probably driving to Ocean City, Maryland for a beach trip with some old friends. Someone else offered to drive and complained (almost) the whole drive about how strange it was that it was so not sensitive, and that it was such an old car and why don't I get a new one, etc. It was a fun trip though, and they eventually warmed up to the car, commenting a lot on its 'character', the kind of perso... Pros
I love the cloth interior of this vehicle. While it may not be good for spills, it is excellent for comfort and warmth in the winter (while not having to burn skin on leather in the summer). Additionally, the car itself is pretty spacious, especially in terms of trunk space. This is somewhat surprising looking at the outside of the car, as it seems small for what is arguably a truck-type vehicle. It can very comfortably fit five, which is a good size for most individuals, including the average family. Considering that the vehicle is sturdy and safe, it is great as a hand-me-down to teenage... Cons
Definitely some of the negative things were how the car started to deteriorate with time. While some problems should be expected, some of the problems that have been presented are a bit of a nuisance. For example, the wheel seems to sort of jiggle a little to the left and right without causing the wheels themselves to actually turn. This can be aggravating for many people that aren't used to it, as you really must turn the wheel a decent amount in order to get anywhere. This probably comes with age and the problems that age brings, however. Otherwise, I really have no complaints. Perhaps i... (more)
