This car has taken me 150,000 miles without a hitch. It has all the style and reliability that people expect from a Jeep. If you're looking for a stylish vehicle that will last you over a decade, then this Jeep can't be beaten. If gas mileage or speed is your thing, then maybe you should look elsewhere.
Story
Because of the cargo space and ability top handle rougher terrain, my Jeep was the go to car for camping trips. My friends and I have many memories of driving to the lake and sitting around a fire while we played music from my car.
Pros
The vehicle can handle rugged terrain, and it has never had any significant mechanical issues. It handles well, and the interior is very spacious. I also like the well known and unique Jeep design. I enjoy the height, as I prefer sitting high rather than down low in a sedan. The size also provides a feeling of security that isn't offered by many sedans. The built in stereo system was also pretty impressive.
Cons
The gas mileage is not very impressive. The Jeep also isn't for people who like quick acceleration and tight maneuvering. You definitely notice that you're driving an SUV and not a sporty sedan. The design of the Jeep also means it has an increased chance to rollover in the case of an accident. Although they were not significant problems, there have been small issues in the interior. The seats are easily stained, the door handles were broken by people yanking on them too hard, and the plastic covering over the gear shift broke inexplicably.

I bought my Jeep Grand Cherokee 3 years ago from a local dealership where I live. I always wanted a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but had never heard too much about the SUV. Regretfully, when I bought the vehicle I did not look up any kind of reviews or ask for opinions on the Jeep. Now that I have the suv I would not recommend it to anyone! Since I bought the car there have been 2 recalls on the safety of the vehicle. It is terrible on gas which really affects me with as much as I have to drive for my line of work. The paint and trim of the car is chipping and fading so quickly from the sun and the heat and I see this on every older Jeep like mine. I have had the car in the shop about a dozen times for anything from the radiator to the brakes going out after I recently had them replaced. The c... (more)

My 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee has more than lived up to my expectations. I purchased it lightly used and had to do only minor mechanical repairs to get it back on the road and running after it had been idle for more than 2 years. It is good basic all wheel drive for transportation.
Story
After setting on soft ground for almost two years the Jeep had settled almost to the axles into the ground. When we first tried to extricate it, the ground was still frozen and there was some snow still on the ground. This first attempt failed to extricate the vehicle but did leave some even bigger ruts in the ground. 4 Or 5 days later it was slightly warmer. The snow was gone and the ground w... (more)
Pros
The four wheel drive system is very simple. There is no driver input necessary or allowed. It is an all-time four wheel drive system. The driver doesn't have to worry about hi range or low range or whether the system is engaged or disengaged. Also the front seats of the vehicle are exceptionally roomy. They are very comfortable while still being firm enough for good support.
Cons
The full time four wheel drive is not only the biggest plus, it is also the biggest negative. By being an all time system, the driver can not disengage it. Nor is there a high or low range. This limits the usability of the system off road and also hurts fuel mileage some. Also in the base trim package, the 3.7 V6 is a little under powered for this size vehicle. It does a good job, just not a great one.
