I got this car almost two years ago and put around 35,000 miles on it. It had around 70,000 miles on it when I purchased it and so far has held up great. I live in the mountains in upstate New York, and since the car has four-wheel drive, it has been a dream in the snow. It's the perfect size for what I need, it can fit all my friends, and it has plenty of room for storage. This car is also has excellent handling which is great for the curvy roads where I live.
Story
I cannot begin to tell you how amazing it is to have a car with four-wheel drive that can reliably get me to a ski resort 30 minutes away when work has been canceled due to the roads being too snowy!
Pros
For a small-sized SUV, this car is great on gas, 26 miles/gal highway! I also love that I can fit my skis and all my ski gear right in the back. It also has racks on top to attach a ski rack too, but I won't buy that if I don't have to! The radio works great, and the speakers work perfectly well. My car has heated seats, perfect for a brutally cold winter. Oh, and I better not forget the air conditioning, which is seriously the best air conditioner I've seen in any car ever. It is instantly cold as soon as I turn it on. It also has a sun roof!
Cons
The color, bright red, is awful. The seats it has in it aren't the most comfortable and do begin to hurt my back after a few hours. Other than that, the only complaint I have is lack of more modern built-in features like a navigational screen.

My Mercury Mariner Hybrid is a great small SUV. I am able to average almost 30 MPG year-round. It's big enough to carry a family of four and all the gear they need for a fun weekend. Still, it's small enough to navigate throughout a congested city. The Hybrid drive system makes the four cylinder engine comparable to a V6 engine. The driver's seating area is pretty good. At 6' tall with long legs I can sit comfortably. However, my seat is also more forward than normal because of kids sitting in the back. Without rear passengers, you can get more leg room.
Story
Arriving at my driveway after a snowstorm and the plows had already come and left a huge berm in my way. Easily drove right through with 4wd and up the long, snow-covered driveway without a problem.
Pros
I like that this SUV doesn't look any different than the gas-only model (except for a hybrid emblem). Tight turning radius and handles like a regular car. Gas mileage is great compared to gas-only models.
Cons
This SUV does suffer from excess road/wind noise. Towing capacity is limited due to the hybrid drive system. Rear cargo area is somewhat truncated due to the high-voltage battery for the hybrid drive system. MPG goes down considerably in colder weather.
