The little Mini Cooper S is a fun-to-drive little car. It's low ground clearance and tight steering make it easy to negotiate sharp curves. It is a peppy little engine with a fast zero-to-sixty time. It shifts smoothly through the gears in its manual transmission. The Mini Cooper S is roomy inside than one would think when looking at it from the outside. My husband and I were able to pack gear and clothes for a weekend camping trip. We were even able to take our 80-pound coonhound with us. The rear seats are comfortable with enough leg room for all except for the tallest individuals.
Story
We took the Mini Cooper S and the coonhound to Coon Dog Day in Saluda, NC. It was like playing Tetris to pack all of the needed clothes and camping gear. There was not a lot of room left around the dog. But we were able to pack all that we needed and had a wonderful weekend.
Pros
My favorites things about the Mini Cooper S include the great steering, the fast pickup as well as its sporty look. It is roomier than it look and has a small hatch area for groceries or luggage.
Cons
The largest con of owning a Cooper would have to be the compactness of the engine compartment. The frond end must be disassembled for many repairs, even to replace the alternator. This is an inconvenience for the DIYer or make repair shop labor prices a great deal higher.

2004 MINI Cooper - Fun but expensive car.

I have had this car for a little over two years and have loved it. The build quality is great for what it is. The quality of the mechanical parts not so much. I have had to do quite a bit of research on forums to know what I was getting myself into. The good thing about this car is that there are many after market parts, which you can supplement the crappy parts from BMW-mini. It's a fun car to drive and has a lot of power for its size. It handles great, especially in the curves. The Mini Cooper is by far the most fun car to drive, but a few draw backs is the maintenance and upkeep of it. It can get costly within the first year or so.
Story
Probably the most fun I had in this car is taking it on road trips where I took the back roads. The car eats those curves up.
Pros
The best feature is the how fun the car is to drive and the aftermarket options there is for the car as well as the community that surrounds the Mini brand. My favorite feature is how roomy the car is but how small the footprint of the actual car.
Cons
The top negative things are the maintenance and how expensive they are to maintain.
