2003 Oldsmobile Alero - Very reliable car
I honestly think its a good car for just about any situation other than off-road. Its been very reliable to me and my fiance'. I would definitely purchase another as a second car. I also like the design and after market kits to change the look of the car to a more sportier look.
Story
Taking the kids down a dirt road that has not been kept up with to go swimming. Could not see down the road to easily because the weeds were high and lots of potholes.
Pros
It gets us from point A to point B, and back with no problems. Been the first car that I have not had to constantly fix something on or get it to the shop to have something else done to it. A lot of things on the car are easy to fix and parts are usually pretty cheap except for some. The car is also very easy on gas which makes it perfect for a work vehicle. The car is also light if needed to push it if there is a break down. It also has automatic locks and dual-side airbags. Another good feature it has a good factory stereo system in it as well.
Cons
I'm 6'9" so makes it hard to have a car full of people. Could be worse with that but when I do gotta drive around with my knees in the dash. Which is not very comfortable. Another con to the car is that it is hard to work on the engine due to lack of space around it. Some parts to the car a very expensive which we have had to go with the route of getting the part out of the junkyard rather than buying a brand new part. Would preferably have something brand new that way there is a warranty and no issues. The lack of space in the car also makes it hard when moving or having to transport some... (more)
2003 Oldsmobile Alero - It's a lemon
I bought this car used about two years ago and all I have had has been problem. Sure the car looks good, it has a nice sporty look to it and when it's actually working, it is a really smooth drive.
However, within a month of getting the car, I got a water pump leak that cost about $500 to fix. Then a week or two later the windows stopped working. Less then a month after that the fix engine light went on. The fix engine light was a easy fix. It was o2 sensors. Then I got a cracked manifold gasket. Within 2 years I spend over 5k to fix all the problems I have had with this car. Now it is working well, but I am not confident that I won't have another major problem next week. Do to it's constant issues I do not feel safe driving this car for any long distance.
Although there are all of t... (more)
Story
I was stopped at a red light and a man drove up next to me, said nice car and followed me to my destination. We ended up exchanging numbers and now we have been dating six months
Pros
Size of trunk, pickup, gas usage, nice sporty look and feel while driving
Cons
Runs into a lot of issue, bad 02 sensors, faulty manifold gasket which is very common for these cars,
