2004 Saturn L300 Owner Ratings & Reviews

2004 Saturn L300 - Great vehicle when new, but shows its age.
I enjoyed the simplicity of the 2004 Saturn L300. Even being nearly 15 years old, it did not look old. Or new for that matter. It simply looked like an unassuming car on the road. It was a perfect car for someone that doesn't care about looks but doesn't want to drive an "old" looking car. Mechanically, the car was sound. It has a closed transmission system that does not require constant topping off of fluid like the oil does. The transmission stays shifting through gears smoothly even after many years with proper basic maintenance. The gas mileage also staid pretty consistent. I would average it out to about 20mpg on the lower end of my estimate. It's not a sports car but it has a surprising amount of power. Maybe most importantly, for me, was the comfort of the car. It has ample seat... (more)
Story
This car winged several deer over the years without a single scratch or dent to the fender!
Pros
Simplicity means less complications. Large, comfortable interior. Ease of DIY repair. Good gas mileage. Lower maintenance. Reliability.
Cons
Age. Not 4 or all-wheel drive. Not great in snow. Electrical and computer systems. Saturn does not exist anymore so no bringing to dealer to get computer issues fixed. Dwindling supply of used parts for repair.
2004 Saturn L300 - Reliable, Affordable, Good on gas.
As a student this car is perfect for me. I purchased this car used, but in great condition. The vehicle is right in the sweet spot between fuel efficiency and power, balancing economy and a V6. The ride is very smooth, and when it is combined with the cruise control it makes driving on the highway a breeze. I have had the car for a few months and it has yet to need any maintenance other than routine car. I highly recommend this Saturn.
Story
The day I purchased this car I got completely lost trying to get home, bat at the same time I inadvertently discovered that the review mirror has a compass display and used the feature to get home.
Pros
The built in compass has helped me find my way home on more than a few occasions. The sunroof works great and the motor along with those in the windows are very quiet. The car is a V6 so it has very good acceleration. Despite the large motor the car is also good on gas, requiring fewer fill ups than my last car.
Cons
I have yet to have any major maintenance on this car besides an oil change and an inspection sticker; since the vehicle is ten years old I am a little concerned with the availability of parts if anything needs to be replaced. The controls for the power windows are also in a weird place in the center of the car rather than on the doors themselves.
