I have owned a lot of cars, and previous to owning my Ion I owned a different Saturn. I was in an accident and that car held up so well that I went out and bought the Ion. The Ion has gone beyond my expectations. I bought it brand new and have had it for just over 8 years now. It has held up to my high-mileage driving, with low maintenance requirements and has always gotten me safely to and from where I am going. I have always felt safe in the car and know it will start up every morning. I have also always enjoyed having the dashboard in the middle of the car as opposed to in front of me. As a short person, the dashboard often obstructs my view a bit.
Story
I have horses at home and do not own a truck. I have had to transport bales of hay and other horse-related large items in the Saturn. I always get funny looks at the feed store, but it works.
Pros
The vehicle has held up with very little maintenance. I have driven it 185,000 miles in 8 years and still have the original brakes. I do regular oil changes, but have not done any of the other recommended upkeep, and the car is still running well. The exterior has held up and still looks like new.
Cons
I get a lot of flat tires in this car, and the electrical system has always been a little bit weird. My clock and radio will randomly stop working, and have since just after I bought the car.

I liked that it was different than the other cars in my price range at the time. For example, the battery is in the trunk and the speedometer and everything is in the middle of the dashboard. It's a deceptively quick car, I usually get to my destination with time to spare. I dislike that the paint has warped off of the hood of it.
Story
I used to drive it around my friend's apartment complex and we'd go out with a few girls.
Pros
I like that it gets great gas mileage, usually in a week I'll spend $25 at the most. I like that I can play my own music in it instead of the radio. I like that it has cruise control for highway driving.
Cons
It's used so the person before me didn't take good care of it and I had to fix a couple of things on it. There's a decent amount of mileage on it and things are beginning to fall apart and act strange. My key gets caught in the ignition at times when I turn it off. It's been starting to mess up when the windows get rolled down on the driver's side.

I love my Saturn Ion! It has wonderful gas mileage, and it wont break the bank to fill up. It has a fun design that is a little sporty but roomy as well. Huge trunk with 40/60 split seats for plenty of hauling room and I have moved from one side of the country to the other with my car maxed out in space. Radio quality is decent, not the greatest but it works for me. I love that the gadgets are in the middle of the car, it is in the perfect line of sight, something you would have to get used to at first, but after driving my car for so long I hate to think what it will be like in a newer car. The fact that the doors are fiberglass is amazing, I have no dents in my car, none! Love that! The quality has held up after 7 years. Story
I love my ION, it was the first car that bought on my own and I haven't had anything major happen with it. My ION has been from the East Coast all the way to the West Coast. Pros
*gas mileage is amazing in this car, easily get 35+. At one time I did get 50mpg.. granted it was snowing and I was going 35mph. *design, the whole car is a great design, inside and out. Inside being the gadgets are in the middle of the dash, outside is the size. *the quality is built to last, as long as you take care of it, it'll take care of you *the OnStar feature, it's nice to know someone is there if you need them. *huge trunk! Cons
*The plastic window molds, could be an AZ heat thing, but they have bubbled up and needed to be replaced. *The interior seats are easily stained, I have a light gray, doesn't matter if it's rain, or if it is something else. It Stains! *Back seat leg room is small, you can almost consider it to be a two door with the leg room.
