I have owned a lot of cars, and previous to owning my Ion I owned a different Saturn. I was in an accident and that car held up so well that I went out and bought the Ion. The Ion has gone beyond my expectations. I bought it brand new and have had it for just over 8 years now. It has held up to my high-mileage driving, with low maintenance requirements and has always gotten me safely to and from where I am going. I have always felt safe in the car and know it will start up every morning. I have also always enjoyed having the dashboard in the middle of the car as opposed to in front of me. As a short person, the dashboard often obstructs my view a bit.
Story
I have horses at home and do not own a truck. I have had to transport bales of hay and other horse-related large items in the Saturn. I always get funny looks at the feed store, but it works.
Pros
The vehicle has held up with very little maintenance. I have driven it 185,000 miles in 8 years and still have the original brakes. I do regular oil changes, but have not done any of the other recommended upkeep, and the car is still running well. The exterior has held up and still looks like new.
Cons
I get a lot of flat tires in this car, and the electrical system has always been a little bit weird. My clock and radio will randomly stop working, and have since just after I bought the car.

I liked that it was different than the other cars in my price range at the time. For example, the battery is in the trunk and the speedometer and everything is in the middle of the dashboard. It's a deceptively quick car, I usually get to my destination with time to spare. I dislike that the paint has warped off of the hood of it.
Story
I used to drive it around my friend's apartment complex and we'd go out with a few girls.
Pros
I like that it gets great gas mileage, usually in a week I'll spend $25 at the most. I like that I can play my own music in it instead of the radio. I like that it has cruise control for highway driving.
Cons
It's used so the person before me didn't take good care of it and I had to fix a couple of things on it. There's a decent amount of mileage on it and things are beginning to fall apart and act strange. My key gets caught in the ignition at times when I turn it off. It's been starting to mess up when the windows get rolled down on the driver's side.

I love the easy maintenance, the great gas mileage. Car has performed very well without needing much maintenance inside or out.
Story
I love the spring time when I can finally open the sunroof after the long harsh Minnesota winters!
Pros
The interior of the car has held up well over the years of transporting 1-2 small dogs. The car seat material hasn't ripped or torn. There have been no issues with the heating/cooling system or the a/v equipment. The overall size of the car is small which fits my preference, however the back seats fold down to give ample trunk room which has helped support multiple moves over the past 8 years that I've owned this vehicle. The color of the car has held up very nice and hasn't rusted in the harsh Minnesota winters. Love the sunroof!
Cons
The cons of this car are there was a nationwide recall, and they key gets stuck in the ignition after shutting the car down more than half the time.
