The Saturn Ion 3 is a reliable, dependable vehicle. The style of the car is generic, there is nothing flashy but that's not important to me. The car is comfortable, I've taken it on long drives and have not had any issues. The car has plenty of room for an everyday vehicle for a family of 3 and has a large trunk, perfect for lots of groceries. My car has rarely been in the shop, except for a few recalls. There is currently a recall for the ignition switch; however, I have contacted the dealer and am awaiting them to call me back. They stated it would be about 6 weeks before they would have the parts available. My car gets fantastic gas mileage. I can got a long way on a tank of gas. Any repairs that I have had done to it have been inexpensive. It's not a very fun car to drive, but tha... (more)
Story
I have enjoyed going on road trips with my car. The gas mileage is great and it's comfortable.
Pros
Dependable. Reliable. Low cost to operate. Great gas mileage. Sirius Radio.
Cons
It's not a luxury vehicle, there are no fancy bells and whistles.

When I first purchased the car it was at 60,000 miles. It was a commuter car in the past and was in great condition. For the first 3 months everything ran smoothly, but it quickly went downhill from there. Since then I have replaced all 4 tires and rims because the stock rims created air to leak regularly from the tires. The BCM was replaced for over $700 and is a known problem with these models that happen pretty frequently according to other Saturn Ion owners of this year. The fuel line began to leak at 80,000 miles, another $480. The turn signals have a short which causes the plastic on the light bulbs themselves to melt, another $120. Now the A/C has a leak in the vacuum somewhere and the back window motor is broken, all happening just over 100,000 miles all city driving.
Story
I took it to Tennessee to a music festival and we didn't break down.
Pros
Looks nice for a first car. Sunroof is nice. Fair cheap base price MPG is OK.
Cons
Very poor build quality. Costly car in the long run. Small.
