I like the fuel efficiency and peppiness of the engine. The car has good acceleration and reasonable braking. It has Toyota parts and has been generally very reliable over the years. Most of the issues I have had with it have been cosmetic in nature or Toyota has agreed to fix them. It's too bad they discontinued it.
Story
My spouse and I have taken it on several long drives, and it has held up well. One of the trips was when we went upstate, and it was snowy/icy. There were two ways to go up this hill. We wanted to go up, but because we had the original stock tires, the car couldn't go up the hill. So we went the other way, which was plowed. Then, when we came down, we figured we couldn't get up the hill the fi... (more)
Pros
The car is very fuel efficient, has a decent amount of cargo space for a coupe, and has a decent sound system. It was also very affordable, so it scores highly for value. It has performed reliably and admirably for a decade. I have never had battery/starter issues, and the engine has held up well. Toyota supported the car well and repaired the one major defect (using oil too rapidly) at no cost to me once my name was reached on a waitlist. Ride quality is very good as well, suspension, etc.
Cons
The biggest negative things about the car are mainly cosmetic. The hatchback button to open it is very flimsy and awkward, and at times the hatchback feels stuck in the closed position and requires finessing to raise it. The dial on the sound system comes off very easily and has had to be reinstalled several times. Also, the lining on the inside of the hatchback (plastic molding) has come off the inside of the hatchback door and floats around. It needs to be re-secured. Some of the seals between doors/windows, and the frame have come loose as well. The mirrors do not fold in, which has led... (more)

The panoramic moon roof is excellent. The car has good handling and maneuverability, and responsive steering. The sound system is very good (love the bass levels). The car has proven very reliability, lasted a long time (over 110K miles, and no major issues that weren't covered under warranty). The overall style of the vehicle is cool, sleek, and sporty...I added the spoiler when I bought the car and it still looks current. The accelerator is a bit touchy, but the car is peppy and gets up to highway speeds nicely. Braking is pretty standard, as is the cargo capacity. Overall, I would say I have no regrets about owning this car, but having owned it for a while, I can see several things that could be tweaked to make it a truly excellent vehicle.
Story
I enjoyed going to the beach at Rockaway, opening all the doors, playing music, and dancing.
Pros
The styling is great, and I like the sleekness of the vehicle. The moon roof and sound system create a really cool vibe, especially at night. The car has proven itself to be very reliable over the years and has good pickup and acceleration. I really enjoy the handling as the car is good at cornering and offers very good steering feedback, especially at the price point. The price point was excellent but sitting in the front it is easy to feel like you are driving a sporty midsize sedan until you realize it's only two doors.
Cons
Would have liked the mirrors to fold in. The car is not for tall people (especially in the rear), and the back seat is very uncomfortable for long rides. The touchiness of the accelerator is a con as it can be difficult to regulate speed in traffic. The interior noise level is a bit high. Radio multiselector button used to fall off a lot before it was fixed, and the trunk latch was covered under warranty because it was very flimsy and lots of tC's had problems with them. Engine had an issue with excess oil consumption which cost me lots of oil to keep it going, but when the warranty work w... (more)
