Overall, I really like my car. It is large enough to fit all the gear I need to take with me for camping or climbing trips but still feels maneuverable on the road. I would not describe it as a luxury vehicle by an definition, but the interior has enough features to make long trips comfortable. In terms of performance it feels heavy and does not accelerate very quickly, but on the other hand, it can handle tough and off-road situations.
Story
Going on a climbing trip to Black Mountain, driving through rough and winding dirt roads to find the perfect places to rock climb felt like the iconic use of the car.
Pros
The most important features to me in this car and the reasons I bought it in the first place were size, safety and reliability. The hatchback design means I can fit all the gear I need to in it and still have space for passengers. While I have never been in a major accident, I know that the safety ratings for Subaru are good, and I feel very safe in it. Finally, I have had few mechanical issues in the 100k miles that I have put on the car.
Cons
The largest negative is that the gas mileage is not very good by today's standards. In addition, it doesn't quite have the acceleration capability I would most prefer. Finally, this model has only a CD player, which means I've had to burn a lot of CDs instead of using an AUX cable or cassette adapter.

Subaru's slogan is: "Love. It's what makes a Subaru, a Subaru." This is the second Subaru I've ever owned, and the slogan rings true. I had purchased this auto since Subaru had such a great reputation, and I was not disappointed. I only needed a car for commuting, and this fit the bill. This was an Outback wagon (like my previous car) but with full-time, all-wheel drive instead. It was also the Limited Edition package, so it had bells and whistles that I never had before: heated leather seats, side window defrosters, fog lights and wood paneling. Even still, the car was pretty basic—it was almost 20 years old when I bought it—but it was exactly what I needed. I bought it at a good price and never regretted it. In fact, my next car is probably going to be another Subaru. Perform... (more)
Story
I actually didn't have any "fun" stories with this car since I used it almost exclusively for commuting.
Pros
No major problems considering the age of the car. Heated seats were great for those occasional cold mornings. Wagon space great for transporting things.
Cons
The gas mileage was not that great since it was all-wheel drive. The radio antenna was broken. I didn't get to use the cold weather features as much as I wanted to since I was in California.
