I initially leased this vehicle in Oct of 2007. When the lease was up, I financed the purchase. I currently have 130,000+ miles and the gas mileage is still at around 30 mpg. The only issue I have is that the body is put together with plastic clips and I've had some issues with the underneath plastic coming undone and I've had to replace it.
Story
I crossed country from Los Angeles to Maryland during the winter. The car was packed to the gills. The back seats folded down and I was able to pack my car very full. We had a great trip and even though one morning there was ice on the roads, the car handled great! It turned 100K miles after we arrived in Maryland and is still going strong at 130+K miles.
Pros
Reliable… low maintenance and good MPG! Also, this car is great in the snow and handles great.
Cons
Body is held together by plastic clips. This is not a strong way to keep the body together.

I really love this car, it's an all around beast. It is fantastic on gas as it averages about 25 miles per gallon on the highway. It offers a smooth ride and looks very stylish with it's body contours. For the techie, it offers full Bluetooth connectivity so that you can stream your music through the vehicle's media center on the go. The seating is contoured and is very comfortable for long rides in the vehicle as well. The only downfall is that you have to be careful and keep an eye out for various warning lights that may come on due to the touchy all-terrain control of the Subaru models. It's very rare that this may occur, but it does happen and is something to pay attention to.
Story
I was able to take it cross-country, it was a fun drive and the vehicle never let me down. I stayed overnight in the back of the vehicle as the backseat folded down. This offered me a way to not only save money, but build a bonding experience with my vehicle. It was the perfect way to travel the country, a man and his car.
Pros
The gas mileage, the style, and the comfort.
Cons
The touchy all-terrain indicators as well as the relatively high cost of replacement parts. Also, the vehicle came with an extremely limited warranty.
