2008 Toyota Yaris - A great "A to B" city car

I live in a very busy, very congested city, and this car is fantastic for getting around town. I was initially concerned with its small size because I do live in such a congested city, which is why I decided to upgrade and get airbags on both sides of the car, which makes me feel much safer in it. It's not an electric car but it gets nearly as great mileage. I also like it because parking is at a premium here, and I've been able to get my Yaris in even the tiniest spots, both parallel parking and squeezing between huge SUV's in spaces that are marked as compact. That said, the car has a surprisingly large interior. With the back seat down, I've been able to put a bike in there, a desk, and several big boxes. There are also what seems like random pockets of storage - extra compartments ... (more)
Story
When I first got the car, I had a few people (strangers) ask if I had to "wind-up" the car to get going. It was a good laugh.
Pros
1) Fuel economy: great mileage even though I do a lot of stop-and-go street driving 2) Small size: I can park in places other cars cannot because they're too big for the space 3) Larger than you would expect interior: I have been able to fit a lot of things in the car that I thought I wouldn't get in. 4) No unexpected maintenance: I've kept up with my oil changes and routine maintenance - nothing has been out of order.
Cons
1) Acceleration is slow 2) Not much power 3) You will feel most of the the bumps in the road

I love my car for many reasons. I find that it has been really reliable -- despite driving long distances. The perfect road trip car. The seats are super comfortable when driving. It also drives really smoothly, and acceleration feels effortless. I like how compact it is which contributes to maneuverability and makes parking super easy. I've been rear ended twice in this car, and both times there was minimal damage -- which I contribute to the great construction of the car. I purchased this car brand new in 2008, and it has held up exceptionally well. I strongly believe I will be able to drive this car beyond 300,000 miles.
Story
My boyfriend and I often drive to visit his family about 40 minutes away, and we always have the best conversations on our way there. It sounds minor, but sharing that time together is really important to me.
Pros
I like that this car has superior highway and street mileage compared to most non-electric vehicles. I also like the comfort and ease of driving it. I used to drive a much larger car, so its compact size is also a big pro for me -- especially living in L.A. which has mostly tiny parking spaces and hard to maneuver streets.
Cons
Although a minor complaint, one of the biggest cons for me is the fact that the cup holders are directly in front of the side air vents. If I put a drink in the cup holder, it then blocks that air vent which is not ideal on a hot day. I find that the trunk is a good size but not quite wide enough for me to move a mattress which was possible in my previous car.

They really helped me get into a car that is very sound and reliable. We were able to work out a fair monthly payment and were very helpful when I had to take it back the next day in a rain storm because my trunk was leaking. They fixed it on the spot and within 10 minutes I was on my way. Great customer service!

I was able to shop online for my car, and did all the price negotiating in this manner. Once I found a car that matched the price I was willing to pay, it was a simple matter of going to the dealership, signing the contracts, and driving home in my new car. It was a very pleasant and easy experience.
